About Aquia Inc.

Named the “#1 Best Remote Startup to Work For in 2025” by Built In, Aquia is a digital services firm specializing in cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and compliance automation for the U.S. government.

Founded by Veterans, we are passionate about making our country digitally capable and secure. Since 2021, we’ve generated millions in cost savings through cloud services and licensing optimization, enabled civil servants to double health care fraud investigations through streamlined cloud-based systems, and reduced authorization timelines by 74% through modernized security processes. Last year, we were named the 2024 Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOSB) of the Year by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Aquia Inc. seeks a results-driven Director of Business Development with proven expertise in the Public Sector, focusing on the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) ecosystem. This role identifies and qualifies new business opportunities, builds and leverages relationships with key HHS and industry stakeholders, and drives top-of-funnel growth. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of federal, specifically HHS, procurement processes, a track record of securing contracts, and the ability to shape and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline aligned with Aquia’s strategic goals.

What you'll do

  • Strategic Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain high-impact relationships with key stakeholders to position Aquia as a trusted partner for modernization and innovation initiatives.
  • Market Analysis and Opportunity Identification: Analyze emerging trends and challenges within federal healthcare IT to identify growth opportunities aligned with the HHS’ strategic goals.
  • Thought Leadership and Representation: Represent Aquia at key industry events, fostering thought leadership and driving awareness of our digital services expertise.
  • Opportunity Identification and Pipeline Development: Research and identify new opportunities within the HHS and adjacent markets (specifically, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), leveraging tools like GovWin IQ, organic intelligence, and industry events. Ensure a steady flow of qualified opportunities into the pipeline, leading capture efforts and working with delivery teams to establish initial positioning and align early-stage efforts with Aquia's strategic goals.

What we're looking for

  • 5-10 years of experience successfully leading and executing strategic business development and capture management activities in support of public sector contracts; ideally within the IT/Cyber/Cloud services sector.
  • Demonstrated success identifying, securing, and expanding opportunities within the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and/or Federal Health IT market.
  • Deep understanding of federal acquisition strategies, including IDIQ vehicles and task order management. SDVOSB experience is a plus.
  • Proven ability to translate strategic vision into actionable growth strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and leadership skills.

Compensation

  • $175-200,000 annually + bonuses.
    • Additional cash and equity bonuses based on defined performance metrics.
