We are seeking a professional to join our Payor Partnerships team as the Director of Business Development and Value-Based Payor Partnerships.
The Payor Partnerships team manages a $8B commercial revenue portfolio and a high-growth national integrated care business that encompasses more than $5B of medical spend under management. This is a highly motivated, fun, and fast-paced team with extensive experience in negotiations, managed care, finance, and consulting, and is at the center of DaVita’s strategy to evolve from fee for service reimbursement to value based care. We foster a collaborative environment with a differential focus on both professional and personal growth.
The Director of Business Development and Value-Based Payor Partnerships is a key leadership role responsible for driving the growth of DaVita's value-based care business with payors through the identification, development, negotiation, and execution of strategic partnerships with national and regional health plans. This individual will lead our national business development and payor relations strategy, and will lead financial and contract negotiations to execute these value-based arrangements. The ideal candidate will possess a strong business development/sales acumen, a deep understanding of value-based care models, and proven experience in negotiating complex healthcare contracts.
This teammate will be based in Denver, Colorado.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive:
Business Development & Sales:
Develop and execute a national business development strategy to identify and engage target health plans for DaVita's value-based care programs.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at health plans, including medical directors, network executives, and contracting leads.
Present DaVita's value-based care solutions to health plans, effectively articulating the value proposition and demonstrating the potential for improved patient outcomes and cost savings.
Lead the development of customized proposals and presentations tailored to the specific needs of each health plan.
Represent DaVita at industry conferences and events to promote our value-based care capabilities.
Contracting & Negotiation:
Lead the negotiation of complex value-based care contracts with health plans, ensuring favorable economic terms and alignment with DaVita's strategic objectives.
Develop and review contract language, working closely with legal counsel to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including finance, actuarial analytics, operations, and clinical teams, to ensure contract feasibility and alignment with operational capabilities.
Payor Relations Leadership:
Lead the team-wide Payor Relations function, establishing and implementing best practices for identifying, mapping, and engaging with key decision-makers at national and regional health plans.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of payor contacts in SalesForce and oversee the mapping of payor decision-makers to appropriate DaVita counterparts to ensure coordinated and effective relationship management.
Establish clear goals and metrics for payor engagement, aligned with DaVita's strategic objectives for both dialysis and value-based care.
Market Intelligence & Strategy:
Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes related to value-based care.
Provide market intelligence and insights to inform DaVita's value-based care strategy and product development efforts.
Analyze market data to identify new opportunities and potential areas for expansion.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
5-7 years minimum of experience in business development, sales, or contracting within the healthcare industry.
Bachelor’s degree is required, MBA or advanced degree preferred
Understands the critical elements of working with payors and value-based care providers in non-traditional partnerships (shared savings, capitation, fee per service).
Track record of success in a business development or sales function
Innovative and flexible thinker with the ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously across multiple teams.
Demonstrated ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
Person that thrives in an ambiguous, dynamic, high energy and fast paced environment
Passion for building trusted-advisor relationships with partners to create tangible results
Willingness to travel nationally as needed.
