ABOUT RIMERE
Rimere is a deep technology company developing plasma-based systems to reform base materials into higher value materials made from the same base elements. Current focus is reforming Natural Gas into graphene and/or high value carbon nano materials along with “green” hydrogen. Rimere is entering an active phase of commercial market development, partner engagement, and production scale-up.
THE OPPORTUNITY
Rimere is hiring its first dedicated business development executive. This is a market-building role. The person in this seat will be responsible for identifying, engaging, and qualifying potential customers, strategic partners and contract manufacturers across Rimere’s target verticals; synthesizing market feedback to inform Rimere’s commercial vector; and building the partnership relationships that support the company’s next stage of growth.
This role requires someone who identify and build relationships while operating with limited supervision within a high energy R&D team. They must build credibility with commercial counterparts while having a base understanding of the technology’s unique characteristics and its ability to produce unique materials at scale.
This role will primarily be conducted via phone and video conferencing, however it will involve some travel, primarily to partner sites, manufacturer facilities, and industry conferences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Intelligence and Partner Identification
- Research and develop a prioritized target list of potential customers and strategic partners across relevant verticals, including solid-state batteries, aerospace composites, coatings, brain-computer interfaces, quantum computing, thermal interface materials, cosmeceuticals, and hydrogen infrastructure
- Map potential contract manufacturers capable of scaled production under license or contract manufacturing arrangements
- Develop org chart mapping, recent activity, and partnership readiness assessments for each priority target
- Work with the technical team to develop an accurate, externally presentable articulation of Rimere’s capabilities and value proposition
Outreach and Relationship Development
- Execute prioritized outbound outreach and lead initial discovery conversations
- Manage the meeting pipeline and coordinate appropriate internal resources at the right stage of each engagement
- Document and synthesize market feedback to inform the company’s product and partnership vector selection
Opportunity Assessment
- Assist with developing business cases for the top candidate partnership and product vectors, covering market conditions, product differentiation, estimated volume, contract manufacturing economics, margin structure, and competitive dynamics
- Present findings to executive leadership to support strategic planning and resource allocation decisions
Strategic Plan Execution
- Own the customer and partner development pipelines from initial contact through initial interest, while playing a material role with term sheets, joint development agreements, and contract manufacturing arrangements
- Coordinate with legal counsel and executive leadership at deal structuring stages
- Contribute to the company’s formal strategic plan, milestone timeline, and operating budget
FIRST-YEAR PRIORITIES
Within the first twelve months, this role is expected to deliver against the following outcomes:
- Develop a prioritized roster of potential customers and/or strategic partners in specialty graphene and adjacent nanocarbon applications, with a defined engagement approach for each priority target
- Identify and qualify a short list of contract manufacturing partners aligned to Rimere’s production scale-up trajectory
- Setup first contact and secondary meetings with the prioritized roster of prospects.
- Work with management to produce decision-ready business cases on the top candidate vectors, sufficient to support executive resource allocation decisions
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 7 or more years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, growth equity, or commercial roles at early-stage or growth-stage ventures
- Demonstrated ability to design and execute a business development motion without a pre-existing playbook
- Experience engaging technical and commercial stakeholders in complex, multi-stage partnership processes
- Comfortable operating in a lean environment with limited administrative support
Preferred
- Experience at or alongside companies in deep tech, specialty materials, energy, advanced manufacturing, or adjacent sectors
- Familiarity with joint development agreements, licensing structures, or contract manufacturing arrangements
The strongest candidates bring experience in relationship-driven, multi-stage B2B partnership processes.
COMPENSATION
Base Salary
$120,000 – $180,000, commensurate with experience
Equity
Equity participation may be available for qualified candidates. Specific terms discussed during the offer process.
Performance Bonus
Structured around partnership milestones and strategic plan objectives. Specific terms discussed during the offer process.
