Business Unit Overview:
The Americas Institutional Businesses (AIB) is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships across the full range of institutional investors in the US, Canada, and Latin America, including pension plans, foundations, endowments, family offices, hospitals and healthcare systems, and other institutional investors, partnering to meet their financial goals and serve their beneficiaries and communities.
The AIB team comprises multiple sub-specialties across relationship management, marketing, sales, client service, and product development and management. The team coordinates the Firm’s broad resources and depth of expertise to provide solutions to clients across asset management, risk management and advisory services supporting our clients’ investment objectives.
AIB’s Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) Client Business Practice is responsible for developing relationships with clients seeking custom multi-asset solutions to solve some of their most fundamental investment and organizational challenges. These solutions draw from the full depth of BlackRock’s capabilities, from governance and investment policy insights, to strategic and tactical asset allocation, portfolio construction across index, factor, and active strategies, market-leading manager research and co-investing, to transparent reporting, knowledge sharing, and extension-of-staff services for clients’ range of constituents including internal staff, investment committees, and broader stakeholders.
Summary:
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading client engagements and sales/prospecting coverage, including developing and executing strategic partnerships and OCIO relationships with clients focused on our whole portfolio and outsourced investment capabilities. They will be responsible for building and owning the full lifecycle of OCIO client relationships, including prospecting, developing strong client relationships through the delivery of strategic advisory services, marketing and thought leadership, to the leadership of RFP responses, presentations, and onboarding and ongoing client oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
New business identification: Enhance existing prospecting strategy, develop deep, trusted relationships with clients seeking to understand their objectives, constraints, and governance requirements. Collaborate with colleagues to identify and target prospective OCIO clients.
Business development: Deliver BlackRock’s capabilities including ownership of full sales process from opportunity identification through onboarding. Responsibility for and oversight of the business RFP process – working with the RFP team, investment team and relationship management colleagues. Develop superb messaging in later stages of new client development process.
Onboarding and oversight: Partner with clients and investment teams to design and implement client-centric solutions that meet and exceed objectives, manage alignment across key client stakeholders and internal partner teams.
Thought leadership and brand development: Assistance in converting key sales messages into creative marketing collateral. Feedback of success stories and learning points for future meetings.
Additional Focus Areas:
Identification of improvements which could be made to the current OCIO offering.
Working with senior stakeholders across the business to improve our OCIO proposition
Represent the needs of the OCIO business internally and externally, including areas related to product development and thought leadership.
Enhance conference strategy via internal and external client forums and industry events.
Networking within the industry to promote our OCIO proposition.
Key Requirements:
Passion for solving client challenges via whole-portfolio solutions with strong integrity and ethics
Strong understanding of the global OCIO and fiduciary market, institutional investment marketplace, and competitive landscape.
Business development acumen and track record, additional investment experience a plus
Effective team player: embrace of our culture working across teams and levels constructively
High level of self-motivation
10+ years of experience working with institutional clients.
BA/BS degree in related field – MBA/CFA/CAIA highly desirable
Has, or is willing to obtain, the series 7, 63, and 3 licenses.
Ability to build consensus and to influence both internally and externally.
Excellent communication skills, highly articulate and able to tailor communication style to the audience.

Solid understanding of asset classes and markets including equities, fixed income, alternatives, and technology
A self-starter who can proactively develop large number of deep relationships
Ability to prioritize and manage time, workload, and projects effectively.
Can demonstrate a strong understanding of client issues, proactively position appropriate capabilities, and offer timely solutions.
Able to analyze client needs and work with internal stakeholder teams to provide resolution.
Team player – able to demonstrate a collaborative approach to partnering with peers and lead Account Managers, to share and develop ideas & approaches with a view to enhancing client relationships.
