From intake to workflow redesign, to communications and change management and enablement, this role leads a team charged with fundamentally changing how Ford operates.

In this position...

Reporting into the Central AI Business Strategy & Transformation Design Leader, the Director, AI Strategy, Enablement, & Workflow turns Ford's enterprise AI strategy into a working portfolio. This role owns the progression model and team that moves opportunities from Sandbox experiment to Functional Program to Enterprise Bets, well as the teams that enable those opportunities via Workflow Redesign, and Learning and Development. This leader integrates these capabilities into one coordinated system behind every bet.
The ideal candidate has run a portfolio of competing initiatives in the past and understands what it takes to change how people work.

Responsibilities

What you'll do...

  • Translate enterprise AI strategy into an actionable portfolio and enablement plan, defining the progression model, decision forums, and adoption priorities that move opportunities from Sandbox experiments to Functional Programs and Enterprise Bets

  • Own total portfolio health, ensuring every active bet has a clear owner, an accurate pipeline status, and a credible path to defined adoption and value outcomes

  • Oversee enterprise-wide AI transformation communications and executive narrative, sharing how AI capabilities translate into business value and scaled adoption

  • Direct workflow redesign efforts across the portfolio, ensuring teams baseline current-state work, identify friction points, and redesign roles and processes around what AI can enable

  • Oversee the L&D team's curriculum, playbooks, and learning journeys, ensuring training is tailored to each audience to maximize adoption

  • Ensure cohesive change management across HR and business unit / skill teams, so Ford's workforce experiences one coordinated transformation plan

  • Manage enablement ROI, holding external agencies, third-party resources, and internal hubs accountable for whether their work moves upskilling and adoption metrics

  • Partner with Insight Generation to make sure portfolio, adoption, and enablement data feeds a single, trusted scorecard for leadership

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 8+ years of experience in strategy, portfolio management, or transformation leadership roles, including experience managing managers or leading multiple functional teams

  • Direct experience running a portfolio of competing initiatives, including prioritization, progression decisions, and pipeline health tracking

  • Experience leading or closely partnering with workflow redesign and organizational design work, including translating a new capability into a changed process or role

  • Experience overseeing an L&D or capability-building function, including curriculum design and rollout tied to a specific technology or operating model change

  • Track record of leading change management efforts that required coordination across HR and multiple business units

  • Experience managing external agencies or third-party vendors against a defined scope and ROI expectation

  • Strong executive communication skills, with experience building narratives and materials for senior leadership decision-making
    Even better, if you have...

  • Experience in automotive, technology, or another large-scale enterprise environment with a complex, matrixed operating structure

  • Background leading an AI or digital transformation office, PMO, or center of excellence

  • Experience building or scaling a Sandbox-to-Enterprise-style progression model for new technology or innovation initiatives

  • Familiarity with how AI agents and automation reshape workflows, and what a credible role-redesign conversation with technical teams looks like

  • Experience presenting portfolio health, adoption, and enablement performance directly to senior executives or a board
