Position Summary
We’re looking for a Digital Product Owner to join the Platform and Personalization Portfolio, where we’re focused on improving how Aetna members engage with and manage their care.
This role supports the Care Path core train and is focused on server-side product ownership within a SAFe delivery model. Care Paths power personalized, condition-specific experiences that help members navigate complex medical journeys by bringing together relevant information, benefits guidance, care updates, and tailored recommendations in one place.
In this role, you’ll partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, and Engineering to translate product direction and technical solutions into clear, executable work for a server scrum team. You’ll lead team ceremonies, maintain a healthy backlog, prepare work for PI planning and sprint execution, and help ensure delivery is organized, technically sound, and held to a high bar for quality and testing.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day product ownership for a server scrum team supporting the Care Path core train in a SAFe environment
- Lead agile team ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and PI planning preparation
- Translate business direction provided by Product Managers and technical solutions defined with Architecture into features, user stories, and acceptance criteria ready for engineering execution
- Maintain a healthy, prioritized backlog that aligns to portfolio goals, technical dependencies, and delivery timelines
- Partner closely with Engineering and Architecture to clarify requirements, sequence work appropriately, and ensure technical feasibility
- Organize the team around portfolio priorities by helping connect roadmap intent to sprint-level execution
- Support PI planning by driving pre-planning activities, identifying dependencies and timelines, clarifying scope, and surfacing risks early
- Ensure stories are complete and well formed, with strong acceptance criteria, quality expectations, and testing considerations before development begins
- Monitor execution progress, raise blockers quickly, and help drive decisions that keep delivery moving while protecting quality
- Contribute to testing efforts and ensure testing coverage is adequate and shipped product is defect free
- Communicate status, tradeoffs, risks, and readiness clearly across Product, Engineering, and partner teams
- Contribute to continuous improvement in team ways of working, delivery predictability, and backlog readiness
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in a Product Owner, Technical Product Owner, or related digital product delivery role
- 5+ years of experience working in Agile and/or SAFe environments and leading cross-functional team ceremonies
- 5+ years of experience translating business and technical direction into detailed features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- 5+ years of experience with commitment to quality, test readiness, and disciplined execution
- 5+ years of experience partnering closely with Architecture and Engineering teams to prepare work for development
- 3+ years of experience supporting server-side or backend engineering teams
- 3+ years of experience with technical understanding, including experience working with APIs, backend systems, and technical architecture
- 5+ years of experience partnering closely with Architecture and Engineering teams to prepare work for development
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in large, matrixed organizations, with the ability to influence without direct authority
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a self-directed manner across multiple priorities
- Experience supporting digital healthcare products or other complex, highly integrated digital platforms
- Experience preparing teams for PI planning and coordinating dependencies across multiple teams
- Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Miro, and related delivery or planning tools
