About the role:

  • Manage gateway and platform configuration as code in Git, with peer review and versioned releases.
  • Write infrastructure as code and configuration automation for OpenShift and cloud resources.
  • Add security and validation checks to every pipeline so nothing reaches production without passing them.
  • Automate repeatable onboarding tasks, such as consumer setup, certificate updates and policy changes, toward self service.
  • Connect pipelines to IRS change control and ticketing, including ServiceNow records and Change Advisory Board (CAB) approvals.
  • Script daily configuration backups and support quarterly restore tests.
  • Document pipelines and hand over knowledge to the operations team.

What you bring:

  • 3+ years in DevOps, DevSecOps, build and release, or platform automation.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines in a tool such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
  • Infrastructure as code or configuration management with a tool such as Terraform, Ansible or Helm.
  • Working knowledge of containers, Kubernetes or OpenShift, and Linux.
  • Scripting in Bash and Python.
  • Familiarity with code, dependency or container image scanning.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and keep an IRS Moderate Background Investigation (MBI); you must meet IRS suitability and residency requirements.

Nice to have:

  • Experience automating API gateway configuration, such as Kong decK or webMethods deployments.
  • Work in a federal change controlled environment.
  • ServiceNow integration experience.
  • A DevOps, Kubernetes or cloud certification, or Security+.
  • An active IRS MBI or prior IRS work.
