The Lucky Foundation is seeking a technology expert to join our Advisory Committee as a Development Director. The Development Director has a crucial role responsible for designing, implementing, and managing fundraising and development strategies to support the organization's mission and financial sustainability. This role requires a combination of strategic thinking, relationship-building, and fundraising expertise.
Job Summary
The Development Director is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing all aspects of fundraising and development activities for The Lucky Foundation. This position plays a critical role in securing the financial resources necessary to support our mission and programs. The Development Director will lead a team of fundraising professionals and collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to achieve fundraising goals.
Reports to: Chief Development Officer
Responsibilities
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, events, and online fundraising campaigns
- Donor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, including individuals, corporations, foundations, and other stakeholders.
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of development staff, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
- Grant Writing: Research, write, and submit grant proposals and applications to foundations and government agencies, ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
- Major Gifts: Identify and cultivate major gift prospects, create personalized cultivation plans, and solicit major gifts from individual donors.
- Event Planning: Plan, coordinate, and execute fundraising events and campaigns, including donor receptions, galas, and online giving campaigns.
- Donor Stewardship: Implement stewardship strategies to recognize and retain donors, ensuring a high level of donor satisfaction and engagement.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the development budget, monitoring expenses, and revenue projections.
- Data Analysis: Utilize donor databases and analytics to track fundraising progress, measure ROI, and make data-driven decisions.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and program staff to align fundraising efforts with the organization's strategic goals.
- Handle other planned giving responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Proven track record of successful fundraising experience in a nonprofit setting.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Grant writing experience and knowledge of grant application processes.
• Proficiency in donor management software and fundraising databases.
• Ability to develop and execute fundraising strategies.
• Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising regulations and ethical standards.
• Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
