Design and build high-quality marketing, activation, checkout, and retention experiences that accelerate growth. Own the marketing design system, increase experiment velocity, partner with marketing, sales, product operations, and customer success, and measure experiment outcomes. The role combines advanced frontend development, visual and interaction design, responsive implementation, animation, customer discovery, data-informed experimentation, code review, and cross-functional project management.

Ambrook helps American family-run businesses become more profitable and resilient.
From volatile markets to climate shifts, independent operators face mounting pressure. While sustainable investments often yield the best long-term returns, they require financial clarity and capital that fragmented legacy systems can’t provide.
We are rebuilding the financial infrastructure that real economy operators rely on. By replacing paperwork with modern tools for accounting, banking, and spending, Ambrook gives owners the data they need to prove viability to lenders and the next generation. We empower the stewards of land and labor to make confident investments in their future.
We’re a Series B startup backed by Lachy Groom, Thrive Capital, Dylan Field, Thomson Reuters Ventures, Cameron Ventures, and leaders at Notion, Gusto, and Vercel. We’re looking for team members to help us untangle the intersection of American industry, climate, and the economy.

The opportunity

Ambrook is building a world-class team that values design and craft. As a design engineer on growth, you'll grow the business by increasing the pace of experimentation, enabling more small businesses to realize the full potential of Ambrook's platform.

You'll partner with marketing, sales, product operations, and customer success to drive business outcomes across our funnel, bringing craft and taste to every surface a prospect touches before they ever log in. You'll have an impact both by designing and building high-quality experiences yourself and by building the marketing design system that lets others move quickly without sacrificing quality.

We've been taking advantage of AI dev tooling since the beginning and we keep up with the bleeding edge. Engineers have the budget to try new tools and we optimize for portability, knowing that the state of the art is changing every day. We have plenty of opportunities to allow every engineer to ship much more while focusing on the really hard problems. We talk regularly about the impact that AI is having on us as people and balance marvel with a respect for our craft.

We're looking for someone who we can count on to…
  • Own: The craft of our growth surfaces (marketing site, landing pages, activation flows, checkout) and the marketing design system underneath them.

  • Teach: Visual and interaction standards for marketing work, and how to hold a high bar while moving fast.

  • Learn: Ins and outs of building a fintech and climate tech company, including how real-economy producers evaluate, buy, and adopt software.

  • Improve: Experiment velocity across the company, by enabling others and setting an example with the work you ship.

Our tech stack
  • Next.js / React application written in Typescript

  • Expo & React Native for mobile

  • Firestore, PostgreSQL & Google Cloud Storage at the data layer

  • Sanity for marketing content

  • Figma for design, custom component library for implementation

  • Running on GCP

  • BigQuery & Hex for data insights

Within 1 month you'll…
  • Learn Ambrook's stack by designing and shipping a standalone growth surface end to end, instrumented so we can read the result.

  • Audit the visual and interaction quality of our marketing and activation surfaces, and share a note on where craft is costing us conversion.

  • Develop a deep intuition for our customers by joining discovery calls and feedback sessions with agricultural producers.

  • Contribute to Engineering and Design team meetings and review code from peers.

Within 3 months you'll…
  • Own a system, not just a launch. For example, you may build the marketing design system that lets the team compose new pages independently, or a library of motion and interaction patterns in the mold of our platform page.

  • Ship bespoke, high-craft work where it earns its keep: custom widgets, product mockups, and animations that make the product legible before someone signs up.

  • Partner directly with growth, marketing, and sales, project-managing your own work.

  • Champion strong user data hygiene, operational security, and privacy practices.

Within 6 months you'll…
  • Productionize multiple successful growth surfaces across marketing, sales, activation, and retention, held to a real quality bar.

  • Close the data loop, reporting out on the results from the experiments you drove.

  • Get involved in hiring and growing the team by evaluating / interviewing candidates.

  • Write about what you built and what it unlocked in a post on Inside Ambrook.

We'll assess you on the systems you put in place and the experiment velocity you unlock, not on the volume of changes you ship.

About you
  • 4+ years building high-quality web and mobile experiences, and at least two working on marketing surfaces or growth problems.

  • Strong design instincts: you can spot when something feels off in a UI, and you can take an idea from a high-fidelity Figma prototype to production yourself.

  • Advanced frontend skills: clean, performant code with a solid grasp of modern development workflows, animation, and responsive craft.

  • Design system ownership: you've built or worked extensively with component libraries and understand both the technical and human challenges.

  • Experimental thinking with data: an instinct for what is the experiment here, and how would we measure it, before writing code.

  • Real experience with, and appetite for, cross-functional collaboration.

  • You unblock yourself. You spot where things get hung up across people and move them.

  • Product sense and customer empathy: a feel for how someone reads and experiences our marketing and activation flows, lightweight copywriting, and the judgment to push back on copy or flow that won't land.

  • Humility & outcome-oriented. Not all of this work is glamorous; but all of it is impactful.

  • You keep up to date with the latest changes in AI tooling and think critically about how to apply them to your day to day.

  • Excited to build software that makes industries like agriculture more sustainable and profitable.

  • Bonus: Experience in agriculture.

  • Bonus: Experience building financial products.

  • Bonus: Experience with Typescript, React, React Native, Next.js, and/or a headless CMS like Sanity.

Values

  • Real Talk – We create space for ourselves and others to be straightforward, vulnerable, and accountable.

  • Reach Understanding – We are driven by curiosity and empathy to learn about our customers, team, and world.

  • Be Proactively Resourceful – We are internally motivated and externally empowered to identify opportunities and solve problems.

  • Derisk Thoughtfully – We lean into the biggest risks we face as a company and put in the work to address them systematically.

  • Find the Positive-Sum – We believe in creating incentive structures that align the needs of our company, our customers, and our planet.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation

  • Health insurance401(k) with matching contribution

  • Paid parental leave

  • Flexible work hours and vacation time

  • Work-from-home/remote office stipend

  • Wellness stipend

  • Professional development stipend
