Summary/Objective:

The Clinical Product Owner serves as EZDERM’s in-house clinical subject matter expert (SME) and ensures that all products meet the highest standards of compliance, patient safety, and clinical workflow optimization. This role bridges clinical dermatology practice, product management, compliance, and technology.

Working closely with Product, UX, Engineering, and the U.S. implementation and support team, this individual ensures that clinical accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance are embedded into product design and execution. The Clinical Product Owner will maintain the integrity of clinical content—including treatment plans, documentation workflows, and coding guidance—while tracking regulatory and clinical updates to translate them into timely business and product requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Compliance and Clinical Documentation Oversight

  • Review and validate new features to guarantee compliance with CMS, ONC, HIPAA, FDA, and other healthcare regulations.

  • Monitor federal and state regulatory changes and proactively translate them into actionable product requirements.

  • Develop and maintain internal clinical documentation guidelines and safety validation checklists.

  • Maintain, audit, and continuously improve treatment plans, clinical templates, and workflow standards to align with current dermatology practice guidelines.

  • Track emerging dermatology trends, clinical standards, and technology regulations to maintain EZDERM’s competitive leadership.

  • Partner with legal, compliance, and quality teams to support audits and ensure regulatory readiness

  • Communicate upcoming regulatory or safety concerns to leadership and engineering for proactive mitigation.

Product and Technology Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and UX to ensure workflows reflect clinical reasoning, patient safety, and usability.

  • Translate complex clinical or regulatory needs into clear user stories with acceptance criteria.

  • Assist and participate in design reviews, UAT, and QA to validate that clinical best practice and compliance are met.

  • Provide ongoing education and consultation to engineering,UX, and product teams to increase clinical understanding.

Cross-Functional & Customer Collaboration

  • Serve as a resource to implementation, training, and support teams on clinical workflow design and compliance topics

  • Evaluate customer feedback regarding clinical features, documentation, and compliance.

  • Participate in advisory boards, beta programs, and onsite visits to validate real-world effectiveness of clinical workflows.

  • Act as a trusted contact for practicing dermatologists and nurses, ensuring EZDERM remains grounded in current clinical realities.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess an Associate or Diploma Degree in Nursing, or Health Information Technology (HIT), OR an advanced degree in a nursing or medical field such as Nurse Practitioner (NP/APN) or Physician Assistant (PA).

  • Must possess one of the following:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice,

  • Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA),

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT),

  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or

  • Licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner/Advanced Practice Nurse (NP/APN).

  • Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) or Certified Documentation Improvement Professional (CDIP) preferred.

  • Minimum five (5) years of dermatology or related clinical experience, ideally within a medical or surgical outpatient dermatology practice.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of clinical documentation standards, coding/billing workflows, and quality reporting measures.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship-building skills.

  • Strong critical thinking, prioritization, and organizational skills; ability to integrate clinical and technical knowledge.

Additional Information:

Work Environment: Position requires occasional travel by car and/or plane. Otherwise, normal office working conditions remotely..

Position Type and Expected Working Hours: Expected working hours during normal business hours of approximately 8:00am - 5:00pm EST Monday through Friday, subject to change at your Manager’s discretion.

Travel: Travel up to 35% domestically which requires a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Physical Demands: Bending, sitting, and standing for long periods of time. May require lifting objects weighing up to 20 lbs. as needed. Driving required occasionally..

Additional Eligibility Qualifications: Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, acceptable background and reference check. Compliance with I-9 employment eligibility requirements.
