About Origin by Prelude

Origin is building the next generation of endpoint security for the Semantic Era. As AI agents and LLMs fundamentally change how humans interface with computers, legacy signature-based defenses are failing. We are pioneering a new approach - moving from "known bad" detection to "contextual intent" understanding - to ensure enterprises can safely adopt the productivity of AI without the risk. Our platform monitors and protects some of the most important organizations in the world. We are backed by Sequoia Capital, Brightmind Ventures, IA Ventures and other top firms.

Role

Origin is seeking a Deployment Engineer to own the operational excellence of customer onboarding and deployment at scale. This is a post-sales role focused on ensuring customers can successfully deploy, expand, and maintain Origin's endpoint observability platform across their environments. You'll build deployment automation, manage MDM integrations (Intune, Jamf), maintain installation packages, orchestrate phased rollouts from pilot to production, and troubleshoot complex deployment issues in real customer environments.

As our Deployment Engineer, you'll be the technical expert who ensures Origin works flawlessly across diverse customer infrastructures - from legacy Windows networks to modern macOS fleets, from small pilots to enterprise-wide deployments of tens of thousands of endpoints. You'll build the tooling and automation that makes deployment seamless, handle the edge cases that break standard approaches, and ensure customers can confidently scale Origin across their entire organization. This role requires deep MDM expertise (Intune, Jamf), strong automation skills, and the operational mindset to debug production issues under pressure.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain deployment automation infrastructure: packaging pipelines, update distribution systems, and orchestration tooling for seamless customer rollouts

  • Manage MDM integrations: configure and optimize Origin deployments via Intune, Jamf, SCCM, and other endpoint management platforms

  • Package and maintain installation artifacts: build MSI/EXE packages for Windows, PKG/DMG for macOS, ensuring compatibility across diverse customer environments

  • Orchestrate customer onboarding: manage phased deployments from pilot to production scale, ensuring successful expansion across thousands of endpoints

  • Troubleshoot production deployment issues: debug complex problems in customer environments, provide Tier 3 support for deployment and compatibility challenges

  • Handle edge cases and non-standard environments: make Origin work in legacy infrastructure, air-gapped networks, security-restricted environments, and custom configurations

  • Optimize deployment performance and reliability: instrument deployment pipelines, identify bottlenecks, and continuously improve success rates

  • Document deployment best practices: create runbooks, deployment guides, and knowledge base articles for both internal teams and customers

  • Collaborate with engineering teams: translate field deployment learnings into product improvements and automation opportunities

Skills & Experience
  • Deep expertise in MDM platforms: hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune, Jamf Pro, SCCM, or similar endpoint management tools

  • Application packaging expertise: building and troubleshooting MSI, EXE, PKG, DMG installers; understanding Windows Installer and macOS packaging frameworks

  • Scripting and automation: PowerShell, Bash, Python for deployment automation, API integration, and infrastructure-as-code

  • Operating system expertise: deep knowledge of Windows and macOS internals, process management, service architecture, and security mechanisms

  • Deployment automation tools: experience with Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Octopus Deploy, or similar orchestration platforms

  • Production troubleshooting skills: ability to debug complex issues in live customer environments under time pressure, using logs, traces, and system diagnostics

  • Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, proxies, certificate management, and understanding how network architecture affects endpoint deployments

  • Project management capability: managing multiple customer deployments simultaneously, tracking progress, and ensuring on-time delivery

  • Customer communication: ability to work with customer IT teams (technical and non-technical) to coordinate deployments and resolve issues

Nice to Haves
  • Prior experience in deployment/implementation engineering roles at security or infrastructure vendors (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Palo Alto, etc.)

  • Experience deploying endpoint security products (EDR/XDR agents) at enterprise scale (10k+ endpoints)

  • Deep expertise in Windows enterprise deployment: Group Policy, Active Directory, Kerberos, NTLM, certificate-based authentication

  • macOS enterprise management expertise: configuration profiles, DEP/ADE, volume licensing, notarization and code signing

  • Cloud infrastructure experience: AWS/Azure/GCP familiarity for understanding customer hybrid environments

  • CI/CD and build pipeline experience: Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps for automating packaging and distribution

  • Experience with security hardening: understanding how endpoint security products interact with OS security features (AMSI, PPL, SIP, etc.)

  • Background in customer success or technical account management: understanding customer deployment lifecycle and success metrics
