Perficient currently has a career opportunity for a Databricks Solutions Architect to join our Data and Analytics Business Unit located nationally. 

Job Overview 

The Solutions Architect is expected to be an expert in modern Data Platforms, specifically around Databricks. The Solutions Architect will have a programming background, and will have expertise in infrastructure architecture, client presales / presentation, team management and thought leadership skills. A focus in one of the Healthcare, Life Sciences, Financial Services, or Automative space is preferred.  
 
You will provide best-fit architectural solutions for one or more projects; you will assist in defining scope and sizing of work; and anchor Proof of Concept developments. You will provide solution architecture for business problems, perform platform integration with third party services, and design and develop complex features for clients' business needs.  

You will also collaborate on building and designing go-to market offerings around Data Platforms, Engineering, AI/ML, Generative AI, and Industry and Function specific use cases, and work closely with project execution teams to ensure fluid transition from the solution design lifecycle into project execution, while providing ongoing guidance and gaining feedback to improve on overall process.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with sales teams to lead technical presales conversations, including discovery sessions, solution design workshops, and customer presentations.  
  • Translate business requirements into scalable Data and AI architectures leveraging Databricks across Azure, AWS, and GCP.  
  • Design and implement end-to-end solutions including data ingestion (batch and streaming), transformation, modeling, governance, and sharing.  
  • Develop and deliver Proof-of-Concepts (POCs) and technical demos showcasing advanced capabilities such as Delta Live Tables/Lakeflow, Unity Catalog, GenAI integrations, and ML/AI pipelines.  
  • Integrate Databricks with cloud-native services (e.g., Azure ADF, ADLS, Event Hub; AWS S3, Glue, Lambda) and enterprise systems.  
  • Architect analytical solutions that enable BI, ML, and AI-driven insights, including star schemas and semantic models. 
  • Create go-to-market materials, reusable solution accelerators, and reference architectures to support presales and delivery teams.  
  • Define and package solution offerings that align with industry use cases and customer needs.  
  • Provide architectural assessments, roadmaps, and best practices for modern data platforms and AI solutions. 
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, SMEs, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between technical design and business objectives.  
  • Support Agile delivery teams with technical guidance, sprint planning, and solution implementation.  
  • Mentor engineers and consultants on Databricks and modern data architecture patterns.  
  • Act as a thought leader by driving innovation, influencing technical direction, and evangelizing platform capabilities internally and externally. 
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience with Data Management and Cloud technologies including Enterprise Data Warehouses, Data Lakes and Lakehouses 

  • 3-5 years of professional experience with Databricks and Lakehouse Architecture. 

  • 4-5 years of hands-on experience with big data technologies such Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, Data Lakehouse. 
  • Experience implementing, designing, and building solutions leveraging Databricks Unity Catalog, ML/AI and Workflows. 
  • At least 3 Databricks project implementations that exploit the full capabilities (discover, design, implement and optimize) – is a MUST. 
  • At least 5 Years architecting ETL/ELT solutions using commercial tools. 
  • Proficiency with Classic ML/AI, Gen AI and Agentic AI type solutions and architectures. 
  • DevOps experience with Databricks CI/CD (Asset Bundles), Git, Terraform 
  • Design and architecture experience supporting both batched and streaming workloads for Big Data Pipelines.   
  • At least 3 years of experience in a professional services company, consulting firm, or agency 
  • Have a solid understanding of delivery methodology and lead teams in the implementation of the solution according to the designed architecture. 
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and support data-informed task execution.  
  • Ability to elicit requirements and communicate clearly with non-technical individuals, development teams, and other ancillary project members. 
  • Experience working with a globally distributed team and managing off-shore teams 

Preferred Skills & Education 

  • Master’s degree in computer science or related field 
    • Certification in Databricks (Champion or Professional), Apache Spark and/or Cloud Platforms (AWS/Azure) preferred.
    • Leadership and team management experience with the ability to provide strategic planning and oversight 
    • Experience leading customer workshop sessions to educate customers on the latest technology trends and best practices

The salary range for this position takes into consideration a variety of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, level of experience, applicable office location, training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The new hire salary range displays the minimum and maximum salary targets for this position across all US locations, and the range has not been adjusted for any specific state differentials. It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the unique facts and circumstances regarding each candidate. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range for this position is $92,118 to $202,730. Please note that the salary range posted reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits or any potential equity or variable bonus programs.
