The Database Engineer will design and manage database schemas, optimize SQL queries, and provide technical mentorship while ensuring data integrity and performance tuning.
JOB TITLE: Database Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Enterprise Services
REPORTS TO: Team Lead, Support
JOB LOCATION: Remote (U.S. based)
TRAVEL: Up to 20%
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, evolve, and own logical database schemas and structures
- Architect and implement ETL and data conversion processes
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views
- Diagnose and resolve database‑level performance issues
- Design and manage indexing and partitioning strategies
- Manage cross‑application workload interaction, blocking, and contention
- Apply database‑level workload governance and tuning controls
- Ensure schema and data design support resiliency and re‑runnable operations
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Database Support Engineers
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE):
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent time management skills
- Experience in a client-facing role
- Experience in stakeholder management
- Experience of working in a diverse and challenging environment
- Ability to determine estimates of effort and impacts on a variety of solutions
- Ability to manage rapid change in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage deliverables and provide support to multiple projects
- Data Conversion experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications
- Developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Experience in testing and validation of output data including reports
- Must have a minimum of two years of experience with SQL
