Job Summary:
KBR is seeking a Data Scientist to add to its Manuals Support team currently supporting the TRICARE benefits program at the Defense Health Agency. This is a great position for someone looking to work to shape the direction of the TRICARE program based on data trends and forecasts derived from large healthcare datasets.  Once analysis is complete, the candidate will present their findings to the stakeholders to affect the direction of healthcare coverage for the Agency.
Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Review, analyze, and provide oversight of large-scale healthcare datasets and databases to ensure TRICARE Manuals are informed by accurate, complete, and relevant data.
  • Apply data-driven and analytical methodologies to meet client-defined requirements and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Conduct analyses that consider existing performance, risk, and attribution methodologies used within the TRICARE Manuals Application.
  • Evaluate healthcare arrangements within the private care sector as they relate to TRICARE program requirements.
  • Perform detailed analysis of contractor proposals, beneficiary populations, medical loss ratios (MLRs), capitation rates, bundled payment models, and provider readiness.
  • Provide technical and analytical expertise to support the evaluation, implementation, and performance monitoring of pilot programs and demonstration initiatives within the TRICARE Health Plan.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into actionable insights to inform policy, program performance, and operational improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of related work experience. In lieu of a degree, an additional 8 years of experience can be substituted.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Secret Clearance
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification or equivalent within 90 days of offer.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to develop analytic plans for large datasets to make accurate recommendations for innovations, pilots, and demonstrations applied to data populations.
  • Forecasting and estimation trend experience related to healthcare populations to provide actionable recommendations for updates to Healthcare Manuals.
  • Ability to critically review proposals, contract requirements, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure statistical techniques and conclusions are valid and appropriate for inclusion in the Healthcare manuals.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative methods to develop data collection tools as well as review, evaluate, survey, and improve program operations.
  • Mastery of qualitative and quantitative techniques required to conduct an analysis of regional and local health care delivery systems and support operations, including problem identification, work measurement, operations analysis, business case analysis, and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Knowledge of health care delivery systems, hospital administration operations and procedures as well as their impact on delivery of care; including matters pertaining to markets, health plans, and an understanding of the configuration and management of hospital data and information of patients, demographics, workload, and costs.
  • Thorough knowledge of management principles, organizational theory and procedures to plan, organize, and conduct studies.
  • Written and oral communication skills to be able to present findings and recommendations to the Stakeholders involved.

Location: Remote

Compensation: $112,700.00 - $169,000.00. The salary range posted is based on the national average.  The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.
