The Opportunity
Root is seeking a Data Scientist II to join our Digital Partnerships team. This team owns the performance of Root's digital rated aggregator partnerships, a rapidly evolving channel that sits at the intersection of customer acquisition, pricing, underwriting, product development, and partner strategy.
In this role, you will help optimize the economics and performance of Root's digital partnerships business. You will design experiments, develop forecasts, analyze partner performance, identify growth opportunities, and help shape the strategies that drive acquisition and profitability. You will work closely with cross-functional leaders to solve complex problems and deliver measurable business impact.
The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, and motivated by applying quantitative methods to real-world business decisions.
Salary Range: $119,00 - 148,700 (Bonus & Equity Eligible)

How You Will Make an Impact
- Analyze partner performance and identify opportunities to improve growth, profitability, and customer acquisition economics.
- Design and evaluate experiments that improve partner performance, conversion, and business outcomes.
- Develop forecasts, performance models, and decision-support tools that inform strategic planning and investment decisions.
- Build measurement frameworks that quantify partner value, incrementality, and business impact.
- Investigate anomalies, monitor performance trends, and provide actionable recommendations to stakeholders.
- Communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Help establish scalable analytical processes that improve decision-making across the digital partnerships business.
What You Will Need to Succeed
- Advanced degree in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline.
- 3+ years of experience applying quantitative methods to business problems.
- Strong foundation in statistics, experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, or machine learning.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and modeling.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business questions into analytical frameworks and actionable recommendations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ownership and a track record of driving work from problem definition through implementation.
Nice to Have
- Experience in insurance, financial services, marketplaces, or customer acquisition.
- Familiarity with attribution, incrementality measurement, forecasting, or optimization problems.
- Experience working with pricing, underwriting, risk, or marketing organizations.
- Experience deploying statistical or machine learning models into production environments.
- PhD or Master's degree in a quantitative discipline.
