Compensation: $20-30/hour

Job Overview

The GridX product team is looking for a Data Science intern to work within our Data Science team.

You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and analysts on a wide range of problems, bringing scientific thought and statistical methods to leverage the vast amount of data. Ultimately enabling the product team to build, develop and improve products that will revolutionize the energy industry.

When applying, please list the days and times you are available to work and specify the total number of hours you are seeking per week. We are most interested in candidates who are able to commit to at least 20+ hours per week during normal MST business hours. The length of the internship can vary depending on your weekly hour availability, but we have projects slated for up to 650 hours of work.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, and present findings using Python-based tools to recommend data-driven solutions that address complex business challenges in the energy sector
  • Analyze large-scale time series datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that inform strategic decisions around customer usage and rate optimization
  • Structure analytical results into clear, visual narratives that drive actionable business decisions
  • Perform comprehensive data quality assurance including cleaning, validation, and usability testing to ensure reliable analytical outputs
  • Support the development of thought leadership content based on data-driven insights and industry analysis
  • Work across time zones in a dynamic start-up setting

Qualifications

  • Seeking degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, or related quantitative field
  • Experience in Data Visualisation, Statistical Learning and other Data Science methods, with a particular focus on time series data
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Python for data analysis and visualization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the Utility or Electricity industry
  • Experience with version control systems
  • Experience with big data processing and distributed computing
