About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to help us continue building and improving our data platform and infrastructure. At Aura, data is at the core of most of our decision making and the Data Engineering team is key to supporting that decision making. This role will help ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of our data infrastructure, which supports critical business operations across various teams. The ideal candidate will have experience working on data infrastructure, data governance, building and maintaining data pipelines, strong communication skills, curiosity, and passion for solving complex data challenges.

Day to Day:

  • Enhance and maintain the infrastructure powering our analytics and data products
  • Continuously monitor and optimize data pipelines and infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
  • Ingest new data from files, APIs and external databases into a centralized data store
  • Work closely with stakeholders like Analysts, Marketing and Finance to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Implement data governance policies and security best practices as needed to ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Help drive engineering best practices across the organization
  • Participate in technical architecture discussions and peer code reviews

 What you bring to the table:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 2-4+ years of experience in data engineering working with a modern tech stack
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong programming skills in languages such as SQL, Python, and Scala.
    • Knowledge of Spark
    • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and their data services
    • Experience building data pipelines and ETL processes
    • Problem solving and critical thinking skills
    • Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects and deadlines.

 It would be great if you also had:

  • Experience working with Databricks 
  • Experience working with Airflow
  • Experience creating infrastructure as code using tools like Terraform

Pay range for this position is $110,000-140,000, but may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location.
