ROLE OVERVIEW
Senior Data Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will own the design, deployment, and operation of end-to-end data solutions across Microsoft Fabric, the Power Platform suite, and Azure cloud infrastructure.
This role is not about maintaining pipelines — it is about being the central technical authority who digitises business processes, migrates legacy systems to the cloud, and delivers enterprise-grade intelligence at scale.
WHAT YOU WILL OWN
1
Data Architecture & Microsoft Fabric
• Architect and manage secure, enterprise-grade data pipelines on Microsoft Fabric — from ingestion through to the serving layer
• Design end-to-end data solutions integrating on-premise sources, Azure cloud, and Microsoft Dynamics 365
• Establish robust data modelling layers — lakehouses, warehouses, and semantic models — within the Fabric ecosystem
• Own the migration of legacy on-premise data structures to Azure, with zero tolerance for data loss or governance failure
• Define data architecture standards and enforce them across all active programmes
2
Business Intelligence & Power BI
• Develop and maintain enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards used by business and executive stakeholders
• Configure secure internal and external workspace access — row-level security, publishing permissions, and data refresh governance
• Own end-to-end data transformation pipelines that feed the BI layer — from raw ingestion to clean, performant semantic models
• Drive cross-departmental BI adoption without compromising data integrity or governance standards
3
Power Platform Automation & Digitisation
• Digitise and automate manual business processes using Microsoft Power Automate — targeting cross-departmental workflows
• Build internal enterprise applications using Microsoft Power Apps — replacing manual, error-prone processes
• Deploy and maintain external-facing organisational portals via Microsoft Power Pages
• Own Power Platform governance — environment strategy, DLP policies, and connector approvals
4
Database Administration & Performance
• Configure and maintain relational databases supporting operational software backends and ERP systems
• Manage capacity planning, trigger logic, permissions, and indexing strategies for high-availability systems
• Develop and own automated SQL maintenance routines to optimise query performance and minimise downtime
• Enforce database security best practices — access controls, audit trails, and encryption at rest and in transit
5
Infrastructure Support & Stakeholder Communication
• Act as the technical bridge between business stakeholders and data infrastructure — translating requirements into scalable solutions
• Manage administrative data engineering queues — access requests, provisioning, and systemic infrastructure upgrades
• Produce clear, structured technical documentation for all architectures, pipelines, and processes you own
• Interface with senior leadership and department heads to communicate data platform capabilities and roadmaps
EXPERIENCE & CORE CAPABILITIES
- 8+ years in data engineering — with deep, hands-on expertise in Microsoft Fabric and the Power Platform suite
- Proven track record architecting and deploying end-to-end Azure data solutions — from ingestion to BI layer
- Strong background in relational database administration, SQL performance optimisation, and production system management
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 integration and enterprise data modelling
- Demonstrated experience migrating legacy on-premise data estates to Azure — including governance and access controls
- Excellent English communication skills — ability to translate complex technical requirements into business outcomes
- Exposure to AI/ML tooling and automation-first data engineering practices is a strong advantage
Core Capabilities
1
Fabric & Platform Depth
You have architected production solutions on Microsoft Fabric — lakehouses, warehouses, data pipelines, and semantic models. Power Platform is not a side skill; it is how you deliver business value.
2
BI & Visualization Excellence
You build Power BI dashboards that executives trust. You understand row-level security, workspace governance, and performance optimization — not just how to drag a chart onto a canvas.
3
Data Architecture Rigour
You design systems with data quality, lineage, and governance as first-class concerns. You document your decisions and make trade-offs visible — not buried in a pipeline no one else can understand.
4
Cloud & Migration Expertise
You have migrated legacy on-premise data estates to Azure. You understand the risks — schema drift, access governance, cut-over planning — and have delivered migrations without data loss.
5
Communication & Translation
You write as precisely as you code. You gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and produce documentation that others can operate from. English fluency and stakeholder clarity are non-negotiable.
