About the Role:
The Business/Data Analyst at RELEX is a pivotal support role that enhances the presales team's effectiveness throughout the sales cycle. You will work directly with Presales Solution Principals and the broader Presales team across North America and LATAM, providing the analytical foundation and technical expertise that drives successful customer engagements. This position integrates data analysis, technical configuration support, demonstration building, and customer engagement, serving as a developmental stepping stone to presales consulting, product management, or operations growth roles.
Join us as a Business/Data Analyst. This is some of what you'll be doing:
Supporting Presales Solution Principals & Sales Teams:
- Collaborate with Solution Principals to prepare for customer engagements by analyzing prospect data, identifying key business challenges, and developing data-driven insights that inform discovery sessions and workshops
- Support the creation of compelling demonstrations that showcase RELEX's AI-powered capabilities, configuring the platform to reflect prospect-specific scenarios and business logic
- Assist in developing Proof of Concepts (POCs) by managing data preparation, environment setup, technical configuration, and analyzing AI model performance results
- Work with Solution Principals to translate customer business requirements into technical demonstrations and value propositions, articulating how machine learning models address their specific challenges
- Develop and customize sales materials, including business cases, ROI analyses, presentations, and technical documentation that explain AI-driven outcomes in business terms
- Participate in customer calls, discovery sessions, and presentations alongside Solution Principals, learning consultative selling and solution articulation
Data Detective & Technical Configuration:
- Collaborate with prospects and customers to identify, extract, and structure necessary data elements for RELEX system integrations, custom demos, X-rays, and POCs
- Review customer data systems and identify required data pieces for RELEX functionalities across forecasting, replenishment, inventory optimization, pricing, promotions, and assortment planning
- Translate business scenarios and process diagrams into technical data specifications and interface requirements
- Advise customers on how to extract and structure data from their systems for optimal integration with RELEX
- Analyze large datasets (millions of rows) to uncover insights, validate data quality, and demonstrate solution value through key performance metrics—using tools like Python, R, SQL, or other analytical platforms you're comfortable with
- Evaluate AI model outputs and performance metrics (training provided), understanding how to tune and optimize machine learning forecasting models based on customer data patterns
- Support technical environment setup, including creating data tables, managing configurations, and troubleshooting data issues
- Work with Central Presales Analytics to manage and restore prospect/demo environments as needed
- Document and recommend best practices for data preparation, integration, and quality management to enable accurate AI model training and predictions
Innovation & Sales Enablement:
- Participate in building new demonstration scenarios by defining required data points and constructing technical solutions for innovative use cases, including emerging AI applications in retail planning
- Collaborate with Central Presales Analytics, Professional Services, Product Strategy, and Product Management to support commercial success
- Contribute to developing standard sales tools, methodologies, and best practices for the presales organization
- Research retail and supply chain best practices, competitive landscapes, and industry trends—including AI adoption patterns—to support RELEX positioning
- Answer RFPs and support technical and business responses, articulating how machine learning capabilities differentiate RELEX solutions
Learning & Development:
- Develop deep expertise in RELEX's suite of AI-powered planning solutions across retail planning and supply chain through our comprehensive training program
- Build knowledge of business logic including forecasting, replenishment, safety stock optimization, capacity management, pricing, and promotions
- Learn the fundamentals of machine learning models used in demand forecasting and inventory optimization, including how to interpret model outputs and explain AI-driven recommendations to customers—no prior AI experience required, we'll train you
- Develop consultative selling, discovery techniques, and presentation skills through hands-on customer engagement
- Build foundation for progression into Presales Solution Principal, Product Management, or Customer Operations roles
We're looking for:
- Analytical and technical skills with hands-on experience analyzing large datasets—proficiency in at least one or two of: Python, R, SQL, or similar analytical tools (e.g., Spark, Tableau, Power BI). We value strong problem-solving and willingness to learn new tools over mastery of any specific technology.
- Understanding of data integration, extraction, system interfaces, and technical documentation
- Ability to understand business logic and translate customer requirements into technical solutions
- System configuration capability or strong desire to learn RELEX platform configuration
- Excellent communication and presentation skills—comfort explaining technical concepts, including AI and machine learning outputs, to business audiences (we'll train you on the AI specifics)
- Ability to see the bigger picture and translate customer challenges into solution-based approaches
- Analytical mindset with curiosity about how data patterns inform predictive models and business decisions
- Collaborative work style with ability to support Solution Principals and work across teams
- Learning agility and growth mindset—enthusiasm for rapidly picking up new domains, tools, and technologies in a fast-paced environment
- Flexible and adaptable approach—able to work within ambiguity and drive improvement
- High work ethic and motivation toward sales-supporting work
- Finished university degree from a relevant field (Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Economics, or similar quantitative discipline)
- Willingness to travel across North America and LATAM on occasion (less than 5-10%)

AI & Advanced Analytics (nice-to-have, not required):
- Exposure to machine learning concepts or experience working with AI/ML models, particularly in forecasting, time series analysis, or optimization—we provide comprehensive training, so curiosity and eagerness to learn matters more than existing expertise
- Familiarity with AI tooling, model evaluation metrics, or experience explaining AI-driven insights to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience with predictive analytics, statistical modeling, or data science projects
- Knowledge of emerging AI productivity tools and technologies in data analysis
Domain & Industry Experience:
- Relevant work experience in consulting, data analytics, presales, or sales engineering
- Understanding of SaaS technology, retail operations, and/or supply chain management

- Understanding of wholesale or manufacturing planning processes
Technical Depth:
- Experience with big data tools (Spark/PySpark, Hadoop) or cloud platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks)
- Advanced proficiency in multiple analytical tools beyond your core skillset
- Experience with data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI) or statistical software (SAS, SPSS, Stata)
Professional Skills:
- Previous customer-facing experience in technical or analytical roles
- Experience with business case development or ROI modeling
