PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $114,300.00-$139,700.00 annually. The full Pay Range is $88,700.00 - $165,200.00 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
You’ll be at the heart of BECU’s Cybersecurity Operations, responsible for preventing cybersecurity incidents by real time monitoring, detecting and analysis of potential intrusions in a multi-platform environment. Your expertise in this multidisciplinary role consists of incident response investigations and reporting; content engineering; and the functional management of the tools used within Cybersecurity Operations ensuring a resilient technology environment that protects our members and empowers innovation. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Be Incident-Ready: Participate in our Security Incident Response Team and provide on-call support to address urgent security issues.
- Monitor & Respond: Run proactive monitoring, alerting, and escalation processes to detect and address cybersecurity events before they become critical.
- Drive Security Solutions: Build, implement and optimize cybersecurity alerting and services, ensuring they effectively protect our enterprise environment.
- Shape Policy & Standards: Collaborate to enhance security policies, standards, and guidelines that adapt to emerging threats and evolving technologies.
- Solve Complex Challenges: Perform root cause analysis on security tooling issues and lead efforts to resolve them quickly and efficiently.
- Stay Ahead of Risks: Identify operational gaps and recommend upgrades to keep our platforms secure and future-ready.
- Champion Best Practices: Operate security tools across cloud, mobile, and on-prem platforms using industry-leading methodologies.
- Document & Educate: Develop clear, actionable documentation for cybersecurity processes and procedures to support team knowledge and compliance.
- Strengthen Controls: Support the implementation of robust security controls across all compute and storage platforms, ensuring alignment with organizational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science or equivalent education or work experience required.
- Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in cyber security, security engineering, network engineering, computer incident response, systems architecture, digital platform security (cloud), or related experience required.
Desired Qualifications
- Active CISSP, CISM or equivalent certification preferred. Additional certifications in cloud technology such as CCSK or CCSP are preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication for conveying technical concepts clearly and accurately.
- Proven experience in conceptual thinking, organizational skills, and demonstrated capability in analyzing complex issues and developing effective solutions.
- Proven experience in assessing and articulating risk using data-driven, fact-based methods.
- Familiarity with programming and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.)
- Be available on an on-call basis to respond to pending incidents, issues, or problems arising during non-business hours and provide support and response.
