Job DescriptionPurpose
The Cyber Security Engineer is a pivotal role within the Security Engineering team, delivering critical technical and operational expertise in information security systems, principles, and best practices. This position plays an essential role in safeguarding sensitive patient health information managed by Intelerad's systems. As a security advocate, you will strengthen our organization's security posture by providing expert guidance on ongoing projects and establishing robust security frameworks that protect our infrastructure, applications, and data against evolving cyber threats.
Responsibilities
- Implement Security Initiatives: Participate in the planning and execution of security-focused initiatives across the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Technical Security Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert in Information Security, providing specialized guidance to technical teams on implementing security controls and remediating vulnerabilities.
- Security Assessment & Analysis: Conduct comprehensive security assessments using industry-standard methodologies to evaluate control effectiveness, identify weaknesses, and develop strategic improvement plans.
- Security Control Implementation: Design, build, and manage core security controls and platforms, including Endpoint Security, Identity & Access Management, and Network Security solutions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with IT, Development, and Compliance teams to integrate security throughout the technology lifecycle and ensure security requirements are met.
- Risk Management: Support the risk assessment process by translating technical findings into business impact analyses and developing actionable remediation strategies.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive security documentation, including policies, procedures, and technical standards.
Employment Prerequisites
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent schooling/experience
- 5+ years' experience in IT with at least 2 years focused specifically on security
- Experience in healthcare IT security or handling protected health information (PHI) preferred
- Risk Assessment: Proven ability to conduct thorough security assessments and implement effective remediation plans
- Healthcare Compliance: Understanding of security requirements in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, etc.)
Technical Knowledge Areas
- Must have basic knowledge across all areas and expert knowledge in at least three of the following:
- SIEM implementation and security monitoring frameworks
- IDS/IPS & next-generation firewall technologies
- Data Loss Prevention & data classification methodologies
- Endpoint protection solutions
- Windows and Linux security hardening techniques
- Network security architecture and segmentation strategies
- Cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP) and secure cloud deployment models
- Email security and anti-phishing technologies
- Vulnerability management lifecycle and remediation processes
- Application security testing and secure coding practices
