Summary

We’re looking for an experienced, insights-driven professional to lead the development and delivery of customer and market research that directly informs GeneDx’s product, experience, and go-to-market strategies. As a Customer & Market Insights Manager, you will help shape our understanding of the people we serve — patients, caregivers, providers, payers, and partners — by identifying key knowledge gaps, designing insight initiatives, and synthesizing findings into actionable guidance.

This role blends hands-on research execution with strategic vendor management, including creating RFPs, selecting right-fit research partners, and ensuring deliverables meet stakeholder needs. You’ll be a thought partner to Product and Commercial teams, providing holistic views of customer needs, market dynamics, pricing drivers, and ecosystem trends.

Job Responsibilities

  • Customer Understanding: Conduct and/or commission qualitative and quantitative research to uncover behavioral, attitudinal, psychographic, demographic, and contextual insights across key customer segments (patients, providers, payers, health systems, etc.).
  • Market Landscape & Competitive Intelligence: Identify and visualize trends across the genetic testing, diagnostics, and digital health industries, providing synthesized perspectives on competitor strategies, emerging disruptors, adjacent category dynamics, and evolving customer expectations.
  • Product Opportunity Identification: Inform product and experience strategies by sizing opportunities, identifying whitespace, conducting concept testing, and modeling the ROI of new features or service models.
  • Pricing & Value Proposition Insights: Lead and synthesize research on customer value perception, pricing sensitivity, and willingness to pay; support value proposition development across segments and offerings.
  • Voice of the Customer (VoC) Program Management: Help design and operationalize GeneDx’s VoC listening system, integrating input from surveys, interviews, Customer Service tickets, and user research across customer journeys.
  • Stakeholder Partnership & Storytelling: Synthesize insights into actionable, compelling storytelling that moves stakeholders to action and drives alignment across cross-functional teams.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 5+ of experience in customer insights, market research, strategy, or a related field — preferably within healthcare, healthtech, diagnostics, life sciences, or adjacent industries
  • Deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, including survey design, in-depth interviews (IDIs), focus groups, segmentation, and conjoint/MaxDiff
  • Experience selecting, managing, and partnering with research vendors and consultants
  • Strong analytical and data synthesis skills; fluency with tools like Qualtrics, Dovetail, Excel, and visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker)
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for telling stories with data, research, and visuals
  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, especially with product, design, commercial, and executive teams
  • Strategic thinker with comfort balancing scrappy tactics and long-term frameworks
  • Bachelor’s degree required in a related field such as Statistics, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, Business, Marketing, Economics, Human-Centered Design, or Life Sciences
  • Master’s degree preferred

At GeneDx, we create, follow, and are informed by cutting-edge science. With over 20 years of expertise in diagnosing rare disorders and diseases, and pioneering work in the identification of new disease-causing genes, our commitment to genetic disease detection, discovery, and diagnosis is based on sound science and is focused on enhancing patient care.

Experts in what matters most.

With hundreds of genetic counselors, MD/PhD scientists, and clinical and molecular genomics specialists on staff, we are the industry’s genetic testing experts and proud of it. We share the same goal as healthcare providers, patients, and families: to provide clear, accurate, and meaningful answers we all can trust.

SEQUENCING HAS THE POWER TO SOLVE DIAGNOSTIC CHALLENGES.

From sequencing to reporting and beyond, our technical and clinical experts are providing guidance every step of the way:

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
  • Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
