Who we are About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies - from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups - use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Risk Foundations team is responsible for helping design the systems, policies and processes that enable Stripe to manage merchant Credit risk accurately and at scale. As Program Managers, we act as the orchestrators of Stripe’s credit ecosystem. We partner closely with Stripe's Risk Strategy, Partnerships, Product, Operations, and Engineering to mobilize cross-functional initiatives and align diverse workstreams. Our team is composed of systems-thinkers, strategists, and curious problem solvers who excel at surfacing insights across verticals and solving complexity at scale. If you are excited to catalyze the efforts that power safe, sustainable growth for millions of businesses, we encourage you to apply!

What you’ll do

We are looking for an execution-oriented Program Manager to add structure and clarity to ambiguous problems, leading and influencing large cross-functional teams to stand up and define new programs and processes that simplify how we run the business. In this highly collaborative role, you will work to connect the dots across internal partner teams, help narrate the path forward, and then mobilize on that path while bringing stakeholders along through completion.

Specifically, this would entail driving program and process incubation across our Credit Risk pillar and the broader Risk organization. As a key driver of our multi-vertical strategy, you will design and implement scalable Risk-wide frameworks, from establishing foundational risk-rating and policy standards to orchestrating strategic commercial shifts for our largest global users. Through effective and consistent communication, you will embed within cross-functional groups, understand their short- and long-term goals, and translate them into a strategic and operational plan. This role is accountable for enabling scalable risk management practices, building foundational policies, and improving on our end-to-end management of losses.

Responsibilities
  • Identify gaps in our current systems, policies and strategies, and recommend enhancements and process improvements
  • Work to scope out, prioritize, coordinate, and launch the initiatives that are most critical to Stripe in support of minimizing credit losses while providing positive user experience
  • Create short-term and long-term project plans, including setting milestones, ensuring adherence to deadlines and efficiently allocating resources
  • Design and implement processes that help scale our risk management practices within Stripe and operate at pace
  • Facilitate decisions and actions, while making certain that ‘risk and reward’ trade offs are at the core of our decision-making process
  • Hold a broader viewpoint by balancing multiple perspectives across the team, understanding other initiatives that are running parallel and ensuring proper overlap and communication between projects
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in program management, strategy & operations or similar functions, driving complex and cross-functional initiatives (e.g. structuring programs, managing stakeholders, setting milestones, and executing at scale)
  • 3+ years of experience in foundational risk management (e.g., credit, fraud, liquidity or market risk), treasury finance, or finance & strategy roles
  • Experience quickly building strong, collaborative relationships with partners across technical and non-technical functions, such as Strategy, Partnerships, Product, Operations, and Engineering
  • Critical and first principles thinking (e.g., ability to question how we are working rather than simply executing), and the ability to zoom out to the most important questions
  • Strong analytical skills and a rigorous, data-driven approach to problem-solving
  • Self-starter who can work independently and execute on complex projects with minimal guidance
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
Preferred qualifications
  • Project management certifications (e.g., CSM, PMP) or working knowledge of frameworks such as Agile, Lean, or Six Sigma
  • Experience in strategy consulting or financial services
  • Experience in a high-growth technology company
