The Creative Services Manager is a key creative leader in shaping Husch Blackwell’s visual identity. The Creative Services Manager drives creative direction, oversees a multi-disciplinary team, and elevates the impact of our design solutions across verticals such as Visual Design, Digital Experiences, Content Strategy, and Motion/Video. As a steward of design excellence, this is a pivotal role in building design culture, modernizing creative workflows, and enabling new capabilities in areas such as AI-assisted design, digital storytelling, and cross-channel brand expression. This role blends creative vision with hands-on execution, requiring a dynamic and creative team player with excellent leadership skills and a strong background in creative strategy, graphic design, and project management. Essential functions include:

  • Lead end-to-end creative direction and execution for client-facing and internal design projects.
  • Champion quality and innovation across multiple creative disciplines with a strong focus on scalability and efficiency.
  • Translate complex business problems into visually engaging and intuitive design solutions, aligned with brand standards.
  • Act as a creative coach and mentor, developing talent within the division and ensuring high-performance collaboration across teams.
  • Partner with the firm’s Campaign Manager to co-create compelling design narratives and tailored campaign assets.
  • Oversee resource planning and delivery excellence, balancing creativity with timelines and business requirements.
  • Develop and implement creative guidelines, ensuring cultural relevance and global brand consistency.
  • Introduce and pilot new tools, platforms, and design methodologies to enhance impact and efficiency.
  • Drive cross-functional ideation sessions, elevating concept development and storytelling across digital, visual, and experiential formats.
  • Grow and maintain the firm’s visual identity system, ensuring consistency across all materials and channels, and opportunities to extend the brand through new products, services and offerings.
  • Lead and manage the Creative Services team, including graphic designers, video and motion graphics specialists, and other creative professionals.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, Digital Media, Visual Communication, or related field (Master’s preferred or equivalent professional experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in a creative leadership role within an agency, in-house studio, or digital consultancy—preferably in a regional or global capacity. 
  • Deep expertise in design systems, creative direction, and digital storytelling across multiple mediums (web, video, brand campaigns, content platforms).
  • A strong creative portfolio showcasing a mix of strategic thinking, storytelling, and visual excellence across industries.
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, motion tools) and familiarity with AI, automation, or UX principles is a strong plus.
  • Experience leading and mentoring high-performing creative teams, including remote and hybrid environments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, especially when engaging executive stakeholders and non-design audiences.
  • Ability to travel to Husch Blackwell offices and event locations when needed to produce creative projects.
  • Commitment to delivering superior service to all clients while producing best-in-class brand strategy and design work.
  • Passion for making design accessible and intuitive for colleagues beyond the creative services team.
  • Dedicated leader and mentor who will motivate and work collaboratively with a high-volume team.
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to changing business demands.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of design excellence.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The exact compensation will vary based on skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. The expected compensation ranges for this position in various states and jurisdictions are as follows:

  • State of California: $86,000 - $175,000
  • State of Colorado: $79,000 - $141,000
  • State of Illinois: $78,000 - $151,000
  • State of Massachusetts: $86,000 - $164,000
  • State of Maryland: $83,000 - $126,000
  • State of Minnesota: $86,000 - $142,000
  • Jersey City, NJ: $93,000 - $169,000
  • State of New York: $80,000 - $173,000
  • State of Vermont: $85,000 - $163,000
  • State of Washington: $83,000 - $158,000
  • Washington, D.C.: $111,000 - $163,000

The above salaries do not include a discretionary bonus, however bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed, and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
