The Difference You Will Make:

We are looking for brilliant minds to join Airbnb’s insurance legal team working on innovative and cutting edge insurance programs. In particular, those who have a passion for the sharing economy and the drive and dedication needed to continue delighting our users and enabling them to share unique and meaningful experiences around the world.

Your role as a member of the Airbnb insurance legal team will involve working closely with global business partners to provide practical regulatory and commercial legal advice and support in various jurisdictions. Your role will require a high degree of self-sufficiency, organizational skills, and an ability to enjoy a fast-paced and busy environment. You will operate as part of a supportive, fun and friendly team. This role reports to Associate General Counsel - Insurance. 

A Typical Day: 

  • Providing legal guidance to internal stakeholders on insurance regulatory requirements related to Airbnb’s user facing products and services, corporate programs and new products as the opportunity arises.
  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, insurance and reinsurance policies necessary to support the operations of Airbnb’s insurance programs.
  • Providing legal guidance to design, content, marketing and UX teams related to travel insurance and other insurance products and services.
  • Staying up-to-date and helping keep the team advised on insurance, advertising, and consumer protection laws.
  • Providing legal support for claims and related processes.
  • Draft and provide legal guidance on insurance related legislation.
  • Responding to regulatory inquiries and managing regulatory outreach.
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in the legal department on insurance related issues as they relate to other Airbnb products, services and commercial agreements.

Your Expertise: 

  • J.D. degree and active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 6+ years of legal experience, including 4+ years of insurance regulatory experience, with substantive experience in the U.S. and exposure to one or more of the following regions: Canada, EMEA, and/or APAC.
  • Creative, adaptable, and business-oriented insurance regulatory and commercial attorney who thrives at the intersection of law and business strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, making sound decisions with confidence and speed.
  • Proven ability to deliver concise, practical, and business-savvy legal advice, leveraging experience and using AI-powered tools where appropriate to enhance efficiency and support legal workflows, while maintaining independent legal judgment at all times.
  • Strong risk identification and assessment skills, with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Proactive problem-solver who anticipates challenges and drives solutions before issues escalate.
  • Highly collaborative with excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate complex legal concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Strong ability to work across a global, geographically dispersed team of legal and business stakeholders in a virtual environment.
  • Comfortable working in an international, multicultural environment and adept at navigating cross-cultural dynamics.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house legal experience, preferably within the technology or platform economy sector.
  • A genuine passion for Airbnb's mission with a strong knowledge of and keen interest in the travel industry.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is a significant advantage.

This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We'll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
