Corporate Responsibility Program Director

We are seeking a talented Corporate Responsibility Program Director to join our Corporate Responsibility team. While the role is ideally based in Indiana, we are open to considering candidates located in other U.S. locations. The Corporate Responsibility Director will lead high‑impact community and equity programs while helping shape Cummins’ global equity strategy for corporate responsibility. The Director will oversee major initiatives across food security, workforce development, economic empowerment, and extended learning —balancing program leadership, stakeholder influence, and governance. This position requires close partnership with officers of the company, senior leaders, and volunteers worldwide to ensure investments align with strategic priorities, criteria, and global needs.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 

• Lead and scale large‑scale community and equity programs—across food security, workforce development, and global equity initiatives—ensuring alignment with Cummins’ strategic priorities and investment criteria.
• Collaborate with company officers, C‑suite leaders, and volunteers to evaluate opportunities, allocate grants, and guide decision‑making across regions, including international travel to priority areas.
• Strengthen governance, communication, and storytelling across programs while navigating constructive conflict and ensuring decisions are equitable, transparent, and grounded in data and impact.
• Engages communities as co-creators rather than recipients; ensures programs reflect lived experience and aligns corporate responsibility strategy with broader business priorities and enterprise risk/opportunity
• Leads complex, multi-regional programs with significant scope and stakeholder complexity; ensures alignment across strategy, execution, governance, and impact measurement.

To be successful in this role you will need the following: 

• Experience leading large, complex programs—ideally across cities or regions—with the ability to drive change, challenge systems that create inequity, and work collaboratively across diverse communities.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships and influence at all levels—anticipating and balancing stakeholder and customer needs while effectively engaging senior executives, board leaders, and volunteers through clear communication, compelling storytelling, and strong interpersonal leadership.
• Strong conflict‑management capabilities, able to balance stakeholder priorities and make informed “yes,” “yes‑and,” or “no” decisions while managing criteria, budget, governance, and expectations.
• Strong business and financial acumen to interpret key financial indicators, understand market dynamics, and make sound, data‑driven decisions that advance organizational goals.
• Clear, adaptive communication skills to convey complex information across diverse audiences, guide teams through change, and navigate conflict with clarity and minimal disruption.
• Proven capability to lead project teams and drive execution by setting direction, delegating effectively, removing obstacles, and consistently achieving results—even in high‑pressure or ambiguous environments.
• A high level of complexity and change agility to make sense of competing priorities, apply structured change‑management and project‑management practices, and leverage diverse perspectives to solve problems and sustain impactful outcomes.

Education/Experience

• College, university, or equivalent degree required master’s degree preferred
• Ability to understand and influence complex ecosystems (community, nonprofit, corporate, policy) and identify interdependencies that drive long-term impact.
• Anticipates trends in ESG, philanthropy, and community impact to shape proactive, future-oriented strategies.
• Designs and delivers enterprise level large-scale, cross-functional programs, ensuring alignment of scope, resources, timelines, and measurable outcomes across regions and stakeholders. 
• Builds alignment across regions, partners, and leadership in matrixed environments and influence without authority.
• 8-10+ years’ experience leading large scale program management.
