This opportunity entails being responsible for providing support in most aspects of project accounting, financial reporting and analysis, internal/external governance, month/year-end close process, and review and approval of project budget set-up. This position is to be very customer service oriented while maintaining a position of decisiveness when it comes to interpreting current HNTB policy related to recording and recognition of revenue and sales.

What You’ll Do:

  • Interprets HNTB policies, procedures, and standards of performance, consistently emphasizing guidelines while maintaining a position of decisiveness and ensuring compliance from a project cost accounting, budget set-up, and sales and revenue recognition standpoint. Reviews contract language - in particular, compensation language, fee estimates, and payment terms - to ensure compliance with internal budgeting guidelines, cash management objectives, and PM system business rules. Identifies, analyzes, and monitors issues that affect Sales, Revenue and Earnings, and Cash. Makes recommendations and escalates when appropriate.
  • Performs reconciliation of month-end and year-end results for data accuracy. Supports year-end system testing and year-over-year data conversion. Prepares and analyzes month-end reports.
  • Provides a high level of financial reporting and analysis. Clearly and articulately communicates interpretation and results with the appropriate audience.
  • Reviews project budgets as required to ensure compliance with established financial controls. Provides guidance with earnings analysis, revenue, and sales recognition when requested. Provides support to the project analysts and project managers by providing answers to budgeting questions. Participates in testing system changes and new reports as required before implementation in production. Acts as liaison with internal /external audit on project finance documents and financial report requests. Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting and 5 years of finance, accounting, or business-related experience.

  • Use of independent judgment with the ability to assess people and situations to accurately perform opinions based on information experience and inference and offer solutions/alternatives and follow through on them.
  • Ability to utilize situational and financial analysis methodologies and techniques to evaluate and identify potential implications and provide recommendations.

What We Prefer:

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 8 years of accounting, finance, or business-related experience in the A/E or construction management industry
