ABOUT THE ROLE

This entry level position is a key member of the Cars Commerce Legal team providing legal advice, counsel, and delivery of the legal product to all Cars Commerce business units. This is a “hands-on” role with ongoing interactions with key business leaders and external parties such as partners, clients and industry contacts. Much of the work is focused on e-commerce and intellectual property and technology licensing.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the senior legal team members of a multitude of projects and assignments including risk management and compliance; commercial contract drafting and negotiations; data and security privacy and product development matters.

• Provide substantive support on contract drafting, review and negotiation.

• Perform legal research and counsel relating to various ongoing and new business initiatives.

• Provide legal counsel and direction to stakeholders within the organization to aid in the decision-making process.

• Respond to and perform legal-related ad hoc requests, as needed.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE 

• Demonstrated ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment on individual projects and supporting multiple team members on various legal matters. 

• Significant research and writing and problem solving abilities. 

• Excellent strategic and analytical skills, strong communication and presentation skills, and the ability to work well independently and on a team.

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

• Licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.

• 2–3+ years of post-graduate legal experience.
