We're looking for a hands-on, ownership-driven Controller to lead the accounting function at a high-growth SaaS company scaling toward and beyond $100M ARR. This is a critical hire for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, holds themselves and their team to a high standard, and brings the technical depth to build a best-in-class accounting organization.

You'll own the full accounting function — close, compliance, reporting, and controls — and serve as a trusted partner to Finance, Revenue, and operational teams across the business.

What You'll Do:
  • Month-End Close — Drive a clean, accurate close in 5 business days or fewer; continuously improve the process without sacrificing quality
  • Financial Reporting — Prepare and own internal financial statements, management reporting packages, and board-level materials
  • Technical Accounting — Serve as the in-house SME on revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity compensation (ASC 718), and other complex areas relevant to a SaaS business
  • Multi-Entity Management — Oversee accounting operations across multiple legal entities, including intercompany eliminations and consolidated reporting
  • Tax & Compliance — Manage sales tax filings, state registrations, and multi-jurisdiction compliance; partner with external advisors on income tax
  • Audit Management — Own the annual audit relationship end-to-end
  • Equity Administration — Support cap table management and stock-based compensation accounting in coordination with Legal and People teams
  • Travel / Expense Management - Oversee the T&E program including policy enforcement, reimbursement accuracy, and timely processing
  • Systems & Tooling — Champion the use of modern accounting tools and automation; evaluate and implement improvements that increase accuracy and reduce manual work; Quickbooks, Tabs, Ramp, Navan, Anrok, Stripe, SVB, Carta, Expensify, Rippling
  • External Accounting Team - Management of external accounting team; manage workflows, deliverable timelines, and quality of work product to ensure external resources are operating as a true extension of the team rather than a bottleneck.
What We're Looking For:

Experience

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time in SaaS or recurring-revenue software businesses
  • Prior experience owning accounting at a startup through a fundraise, audit, or exit process
  • Demonstrated ability to manage accounting in a multi-entity structure
  • CPA license preferred

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep technical accounting knowledge across revenue recognition, equity, and multi-entity consolidations
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity — you can identify an unknown issue, diagnose the root cause, and drive to resolution without waiting to be told what to do
  • Strong communicator who builds trust with non-Finance stakeholders (Sales, Marketing, People, Operations) and can translate accounting complexity into plain language
  • Detail orientation that doesn't slow you down — you care about getting it right and getting it done
  • Tools-forward mindset: you're curious about AI and modern accounting tools, quick to learn new systems, and motivated to eliminate manual processes
  • Role requires proficiency with macOS and comfort working fully remotely using tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, and Zoom.

Location Preference: Remote anywhere in the US

Compensation & Transparency

For US-based employees, the cash base compensation range for this role is $170,000 - $190,000. We set standard ranges for all US roles based on function, level, and geographic location, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. To comply with local legislation and provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. However, these ranges are specific to the hiring location and may differ within or outside the US. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including geographic location as well as candidate experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Offers vary depending on, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, certifications/licenses, skills, training, and market conditions.
