Job Title: North America Controller - M5 Level

Job Summary: Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the North America Controller is a high-impact leadership role responsible for managing the global general ledger function and ensuring the accuracy and timely delivery of financial statements for Cubic's North American entities and subsidiaries. This role exercises significant discretionary and decision-making authority, manages multinational accounting teams, and is instrumental in handling complex technical accounting matters and driving process efficiency across the organization.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting teams based in North America and India responsible for the general ledger (GL) and corporate accounting functions.
- Provide necessary training and supervision to accounting staff, fostering a high-performing and compliant environment.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with leaders across the finance, accounting, and business units.
- Manage the comprehensive monthly close process, including the preparation and rigorous review of consolidated financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Oversee general ledger account reconciliations and prepare or review detailed account analyses for internal management and external/internal auditors.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, working directly with senior management on complex accounting matters, including compliance with Revenue Accounting (ASC 606) and Lease Accounting (ASC 842) standards.
- Compile, analyze, and report on critical financial information to provide quality insights to operating and corporate management.
- Maintain and review comprehensive documentation necessary for the annual audit of Cubic’s financial statements and its system of internal controls over financial reporting.
- Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure the consistent, timely, and accurate availability of financial information.
- Maintains or reviews documentation necessary for the audit of Cubic’s financial statements and its system of internal accounting controls over financial reporting.
- Provides quality analysis and financial information to operating and corporate management.
- Prepares other financial reports or analyses, as required.
Minimum Job Requirements
- Education: Four-year college degree in accounting.
- CPA certification required.
- Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible related accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
- Leadership: Demonstrated success in building and managing effective accounting departments and working collaboratively with public accounting teams.
- Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Interface: Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel, management, and external auditors.
Other Experience
- Prior experience managing an offshore accounting team preferred.
- Previous experience within a public accounting firm preferred.
