About The Role
At MeanPug, we believe that the success of our company rests squarely on the work quality and happiness of our team. We want you not for your ability to punch around on a keyboard but for your creativity, spirit, willingness, and ability to execute.
As a Content Specialist, your job is not simply to produce words. You are expected to use editorial judgment, legal research, basic SEO awareness, and client context to create content that is accurate, useful, persuasive, and tailored to the firm it represents.
RequirementsResponsibilities
As one of those extraordinarily overused quotes say, "with great power comes great responsibility." As a startup, we want new team members to come in with the understanding that they might be asked to wear more than one hat and we hope you relish that opportunity the way we do.
As a Content Specialist, you will own content strategy and execution for our law firm clients. You will have the support and guidance of our Content and SEO leads, but you will be expected to take ownership of the quality of the content you produce and to collaborate closely with SEO, Strategy, Design, and other teams as needed
For the Content Specialist role, your day-to-day responsibilities might look something like:
- Editing, refreshing, and improving legal content across practice area pages, location pages, blog posts, FAQs, landing pages, press releases, brochures, and other client-facing materials.
- Using AI workflows and tools to substantially edit content, as needed, for accuracy, usefulness, structure, voice, and originality.
- Researching legal concepts, statutes, jurisdiction-specific rules, and other factual information necessary to produce accurate content.
- Using editorial judgment to determine what information a reader actually needs, where it should appear, and how clearly it should be explained.
- Working with the SEO team to improve internal link structure, optimize SEO titles and metas, and generally adhere to SEO & AIO best practices.
- Supporting specialized assignments such as case studies, video scripts, email campaigns, press releases, MeanPug branded content, or other content-related initiatives.
- Helping to establish new brand identities for clients, including writing branded slogans, mission statements, client values, and more.
- Providing guidance to uploaders, as needed, to publish new content on client websites and assisting with WordPress updates and content migrations, if necessary.
We take pride in our work, and expect our team members to be responsible for the quality of the work they submit. That means you are expected to catch obvious factual, legal, linking, formatting, and other issues before submission. Different clients and assignments require different levels of time and research, so a Content Specialist should be able to exercise good judgment and create drafts they are proud of.
We are highly cross-functional in the way we work, which means, as a Content Specialist, you may work with SEO on search strategy and optimization, Strategy on client priorities and approvals, Design and Development on website builds and user experience, and Content Director on standards and process improvement.
Growth ExpectationsWe do not expect our team members to remain confined to one narrow type of work. We will be invested in your growth and assign tasks that are reasonably connected to Content or your professional development in the company. You are not expected to already know how to do everything. You are expected to be willing to learn.
