Role Overview

The Content Marketing Specialist will report to the Growth Marketing Manager and serve as a key content strategist, focusing on the creation of high-impact thought leadership materials such as whitepapers, case studies, blog series, and industry reports. Acting as the “voice of the buyer,” this role will help gather market intelligence through customer conversations, industry research, and data analysis to inform content that drives product positioning, supports the sales pipeline, and elevates 9 Spokes’ authority in the FinTech and SMB space.

The position will collaborate closely with product, sales, and marketing teams to develop compelling narratives that resonate with SMBs, banking partners, and app ecosystems, while contributing to broader growth marketing initiatives.


Key Accountabilities

The following covers the Content Marketing Specialist key accountabilities; however, this is not an exhaustive list, and the role will include additional responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing and executing a content strategy centered on thought leadership, including researching, writing, and producing whitepapers,  webinars, and opinion pieces that highlight SMB challenges, FinTech trends, and 9Spokes’ innovative solutions.
  • Gather and synthesize customer insights, macro trends impacting small and medium businesses, and competitive intelligence to create data-driven content that positions 9Spokes as a thought leader.
  • Collaborate with the Revenue and Growth Marketing teams to align content with sales enablement, creating tailored assets like battle cards, demo scripts, sales decks, pitches and customer success stories to support prospect engagements.
  • Identify and prioritize buyer personas, crafting targeted messaging and content formats that address specific pain points in the SMB and banking sectors.
  • Work cross-functionally with the Product and Growth Marketing to translate roadmap features into engaging narratives for thought leadership content, ensuring alignment with market needs and strategic partnerships.
  • Assist in analysing content performance metrics and usage data to refine strategies, recommend optimizations, and measure ROI on content initiatives.
  • Support event presence by developing pre- and post-event content, such as session recaps, key takeaways reports, and promotional materials for conferences and expos.
  • Educate internal teams on content usage, providing training on leveraging whitepapers and thought leadership assets in customer conversations and sales cycles.
  • Continuously evolve content processes to ensure scalability, creativity, and alignment with broader growth marketing goals.
  • Customer Focus:
    • Participate in a company-wide culture of Customer Success.
    • Align with Marketing around re-enforcing the 9Spokes brand within the FinTech marketplace
    • Align with Product around driving product roadmap.
    • Align with Finance around measurement and forecasting.
    • Align with the Executive Team around key metrics and objectives.
    • Drive the company-wide definition of the ideal customer.
    • Create a company-wide customer feedback loop.
  •  People:
    • Develop strong internal relationships and collaborate with peers and colleagues. 
    • Continuous feedback to the product team to improve and evolve our roadmap.
    • Strong engagement with the wider marketing team to coordinate activity and ensure the voice of the customer is heard and understood.

Security Responsibilities

  • Understand information security, including how to handle information, reporting risks and/or breaches, and how to support colleagues to do the same.

Qualifications, Key Skills, Experience and Knowledge

The successful candidate must demonstrate experience and working knowledge across the following areas:

  • 5+ years Product Marketing experience, ideally in a business-to-business environment and/or tech industry.
  • Ability to think and act strategically in the interest of business success.
  • Solid experience and a passion for building great product marketing functions that are unique, creative, and scalable with a bias for action. 
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills, building rapport with all levels of seniority internally and externally. 
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, spoken and understanding) and presentation skills, comfortable presenting and representing the 9 Spokes Brand.  
  • Ability to solve problems, be analytical, get things done and achieve results in a constantly changing environment. 
  • Strong project management, reporting and analytical skills.  
  • Knowledge of the small business market and dealing with business associations.
  • Experience in the FinTech/Banking space is preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Skilled storyteller with the ability to develop a point of view that is strong and grounded in the “voice of the buyer”.
  • Experience with financial data and data-led product solution.
