We are presently looking for a Content Management Consultant & Editor.
The Content Management Consultant & Editor we’re seeking will be an experienced project manager and editor, ideally with a background in communications, political campaigns, public relations, or marketing, to provide content management and editing services for specific editorial programs focused on underwritten editorial products. This engagement is structured around a defined scope of services and deliverables within a set timeframe, not a staff position.

Scope of Services
As directed by the company, the consultant will:
- Develop and maintain a clear understanding of the goals, requirements, and priorities for assigned editorial programs.
- Draft and update concise program one‑pagers that outline key elements, expectations, deliverables, and collaborators.
- Edit original reporting to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with program needs and COURIER’s mission.
- Coordinate with state communications hub partners on a scheduled basis to gather and document priority messaging and project needs.
- Communicate a summary of these priorities to the internal team, review and edit content to ensure alignment, and track and report distributed content back to each hub.
- Maintain content tracking documents and simple dashboards, including status, publication details, and performance indicators to deliver periodic reports.
- Review performance metrics for assigned content using tools such as Emplifi, and summarizing key takeaways in periodic updates.
- Prepare short written updates and reports that describe how assigned programs are progressing against stated goals.
- Use collaboration platforms such as Slack, Asana, and Google Drive to receive direction, share drafts, and deliver work products.
The specific mix of services and volume of work will be prioritized in consultation with COURIER and may be adjusted during the engagement, within agreed hour limits.
Ideal Consultant Profile
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has significant editing experience, ideally in political or public‑affairs journalism.
- Has experience with fundraising, sales, marketing, public relations, or political campaign communications.
- Is a strong project manager and consultant, handling multiple assignments efficiently in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Is comfortable working with coverage that translates complex policies and political dynamics into clear, approachable content for news-averse social and digital audiences.
- Is values‑aligned with COURIER’s mission to strengthen democracy, hold powerful actors to account, and highlight solutions.
The consultant will remain an independent contractor, responsible for their own taxes and not eligible for employee benefits.
