Job Description:

The Consultant will lead a team responsible for GL, Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable related operations for the Mexico, including statutory filings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger management, accounting operations, financial systems management, process improvement, strong knowledge of Mexico’s local statutory requirements, with proven leadership skills to drive efficiency and accuracy within the finance function.

What you’ll do:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization, preparation, and coordination of all financial reporting for the Mexico entity under US GAAP and statutory GAAP, while ensuring accurate and compliant accounting procedures.

  • Manage the operations and all functions of the GL, A/P, A/R, and Payroll Department.

  • Set a team standard of efficiency and accuracy for transactional accounting.

  • Direct ongoing work process assessments and identify and implement improvements to policies, procedures, internal controls, and tools that realize greater operating efficiencies and enhanced customer service support.

  • Ensure payments are made timely according to vendor terms – Aging review.

  • Ensure Customer payments are collected per customer terms - Aging review and KPI’s.

  • Oversee payroll and manage payroll tax compliance issues as presented by timelines and help drive deadlines.

  • Ensure the timely preparation and filing of any requisite statutory filings.

  • Provide supporting documentation for internal/external audits and tax return preparation.

  • Review account balance and payroll reconciliations.

  • Prepare and or review financial reports for accounting and auditing purposes.

  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to know:

Experience/Skills/Education:

Required:

  • Travel to Mexico

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (master's degree preferred).

  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent certification preferred.

  • Proven experience (10+ years) in accounting operations, financial systems management, and financial reporting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS, with experience in complex accounting principles and financial transactions.

  • Experience managing all aspects of day-to-day accounting, monthly closes, and the preparation of financial statements.

  • Familiarity with Mexico’s statutory requirements

  • Business proficiency in Spanish and English

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

  • Experience leading ERP implementations and enhancements, with proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).

Base Pay: $145,000 - $156,000/year
