BakerHostetler is seeking a Conflicts Analyst to join its Intake Services department. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for conducting conflicts reviews and supporting the clearance process for lateral attorney hires and other new hires. This role researches and analyzes potential conflicts of interest, prepares conflicts reports, coordinates onboarding and matter opening activities for lateral attorneys, and works with attorneys and other Firm stakeholders to facilitate conflict resolution and support compliance with the Firm's ethical and business requirements. To support the Firm's business needs across multiple time zones, this position requires working West Coast business hours.
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze conflicts forms and supporting information submitted by lateral attorney candidates and new hires.
- Conduct conflicts searches and analyze results to identify actual and potential conflicts of interest and determine which matters require further review.
- Research prior client relationships, matter involvement, adverse parties, affiliated entities, and other information relevant to conflicts reviews.
- Collaborate with Recruiting, Human Resources, attorneys, and candidates to obtain information necessary to evaluate and resolve conflicts issues.
- Coordinate the onboarding of lateral attorneys, including engagement letters, matter openings, client transitions, training, and other onboarding activities, while working with Recruiting, Human Resources, Billing, Intake Operations, attorneys, and other Firm stakeholders.
- Prepare conflicts reports and summaries, document resolutions, and support conflicts clearance activities.
- Review client and matter information for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
- Respond to inquiries regarding conflicts searches, client/matter status, and related systems.
- Maintain the integrity and accuracy of conflicts and intake database records.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive candidate, client, and Firm information.
- Remain current on Firm policies, conflicts procedures, and applicable professional responsibility requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years of law firm conflicts experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of conflicts analysis, new business intake, and conflicts clearance processes, with the ability to identify potential conflicts, conduct research, and prepare thorough conflicts analyses.
- Prior experience with Intapp or other automated conflicts software and legal research tools preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proven aptitude to learn new software applications. Strong research skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and communication skills both oral and written.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work overtime when needed. Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
- Ability to exercise discretion with confidential and sensitive information.
- Must be able to perform essential duties of the position with time constraints and interruptions.
- A strong client service approach and team orientation.
- Demonstrate good judgment, tact, and flexibility under pressure in a mixed-matrix environment with many stakeholders and potentially competing priorities.

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $75,000-$100,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level, education/training, and relevant skills.
