The Configuration Management (CM) / Technical Writer SME provides tracking, training scenario development, technical review, and document creation for a large Space Force Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract for the Commercial Satellite Communications (SATCOM) and Military Satellite Communications (MILSATCOM) missions worldwide.  The CM/Tech Writer SME provides technical expertise and dedicated support to the contract in Colorado Springs, CO functioning as the configuration management expert.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes and oversees the CM processes, procedures, and policies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of contract documentation and deliverables throughout the lifecycle.

  • Writes technical documentation compiling, writing/editing and/or coordinating procedure manuals, service manuals, and related technical publications concerned with installation, test, operation, and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, and other equipment.

  • Ensures documentation and tracking of all aspects of hardware and/or software baseline development and modification.

  • Serves as Change Manager providing Configuration Management and Version Control.

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify configuration items, control changes, and track configurations.

  • Conducts audits and reviews to verify compliance with CM standards.

  • Maintains the existing system requirements baseline provided by the Government. Maintain and update all existing system documents.

  • As each update/upgrade/modification to the system, ensures each document is tracked, traced, and decomposed to account for all approved/new requirements.

  • Interface with the PMO to identify additional documents prior to development.

  • Provides configuration management training.

  • Provides training scenario development.

  • Performs technical reviews.

  • Coordinates/Facilitates the Configuration Control Board (CCB) process.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 5+ years of experience, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.

Citizenship and Clearance:

  • US Citizen

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI is required.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Advanced user of MS Office products.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • Experience with templates or CM tools to enforce consistency as much as possible to maximize performance and efficiency.

  • Analyzes operating data involving records, reports, transactions or other documents for accuracy and inconsistencies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with reviewing and editing various technical and non-technical documents and deliverables, such as analysis documents, memorandums, requirements, functional/technical specifications, reports, assessments, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and programmatic deliverables.

  • Working knowledge in satellite communications environment highly desired.

SCHEDULED WEEKLY HOURS:

  • Normal hours of operation (0730–1630 hours).

  • 40 hours, 5 days a week.

TRAVEL:

  • May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, expect approximately 5%.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Basic Compensation:

$97,000 - $121,200

This range is for the CO area only

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s work location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, clearance level, contract affordability and in consideration of internal parity.

 

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
