Description

Community Engagement Director

Erie, CO

$85,000-$95,000 annually + Comprehensive Benefits + 16 Paid Holidays

Hiring range based on experience, skills, and qualifications.

Collaboration. Authenticity. Connection. Balance.

At Cohere, we believe community is the most valuable amenity.

We do more than manage communities—we help create places where people connect, belong, and thrive. By partnering with some of the nation's most innovative master-planned communities, we create places residents are proud to call home and where meaningful relationships flourish.

We're looking for a Community Engagement Director to help bring the vision of a new active adult community to life from its earliest stages. Working alongside the sales team before homes are occupied and the amenity center is complete, you will create experiences that help prospective residents understand not only where they could live, but how they could connect, participate, and belong.

This is an opportunity to shape the social foundation of a community before it is fully built—combining strategic thinking, creative programming, hospitality, and marketing awareness to turn a future lifestyle into something people can experience today.

If you're a creative, highly visible leader who can build energy without relying on a finished amenity or established resident base, we'd love to meet you.

Why People Choose Cohere

The best communities are built by people who feel supported, valued, and empowered to do their best work. That's why we invest in benefits, time away, and professional growth that help our team members thrive both personally and professionally.

Highlights Include:

  • Medical coverage available on your first day
  • Employer-paid dental coverage
  • Vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Employer-paid Life Insurance, AD&D, and Long-Term Disability coverage
  • Pet insurance options
  • Employee Assistance Program with mental health, financial, legal, and family support resources
  • Travel assistance and identity theft protection
  • Complimentary will preparation services
  • Generous paid time off
  • 16 paid holidays each year, including a Birthday Day and Volunteer Day, in addition to PTO
  • Professional development and growth opportunities

What You'll Do

Shape the Early Community Experience

  • Translate the vision and identity of an active adult community into meaningful experiences that prospective buyers can see, feel, and imagine themselves joining.
  • Develop a strategic engagement plan for the community’s earliest stages, when there may be no completed amenity, occupied homes, or established resident base.
  • Create early energy, connection, and a sense of belonging that lays the groundwork for a vibrant community long-term.

Create Experiences That Support Sales & Marketing

  • Partner closely with the sales and marketing teams to strengthen the visitor journey and communicate the engagement-focused lifestyle of the community.
  • Design and execute prospect-focused activations, events, and experiences that drive interest, traffic, and emotional connection to the community.
  • Support grand openings, builder events, marketing initiatives, and other key moments that bring the community story to life.
  • Gather insights from prospects and visitors to help inform future programming, marketing, and sales strategy.

Build Meaningful Programming from the Ground Up

  • Think creatively about how to deliver relevant, high-quality engagement in temporary, off-site, or developing spaces before the community’s amenity center is available.
  • Build relationships with local businesses, creatives, organizations, and partners that can enrich early programming and connect the community to the surrounding area.
  • Establish scalable systems and frameworks for future resident programs, clubs, volunteer opportunities, and community participation.

Lead with Strategy and Strong Execution

  • Develop annual plans and budgets for engagement initiatives; monitor expenses and identify thoughtful, cost-conscious solutions.
  • Manage vendors, contracts, event logistics, permits, insurance documentation, and other operational details required to execute programs successfully.
  • Collaborate across Cohere, developer, builder, sales, and marketing teams to ensure experiences remain aligned with the community vision and long-term operations.

What We're Looking For

  • 5-7 years of experience in community engagement, experiential marketing, event planning, hospitality, lifestyle programming, real estate development, or a related field.
  • A strategic thinker who can build a long-term engagement vision while remaining hands-on in day-to-day execution.
  • A highly creative approach to programming, particularly in early-stage environments without established amenities or residents.
  • Strong understanding of marketing and the ability to create experiences that support brand positioning, prospect engagement, and the sales journey.
  • Proven ability to plan and execute high-quality events and activations from concept through completion.
  • A dynamic, polished, and welcoming presence who is comfortable engaging prospective buyers, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and project management skills.
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, budgets, and programming logistics.
  • Background in active adult communities, master-planned communities, real estate development, hospitality, or lifestyle brands is highly desirable.

Additional Requirements

  • This is a full-time, on-site position in Colorado. The work schedule will align with sales office hours and may include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays based on events and community needs.
  • During the community’s early development, this position will office alongside the sales team until the amenity center is complete.
  • Ability to provide reliable transportation and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 30 pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods during events and activations.
