The Commercial SATCOM SME position provides expertise with developing, planning, operating, controlling, and/or managing multiple various military or commercial SATCOM systems and software.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides expertise and focus for integrating Amazonas Nexus, mPower constellation, and other commercial satellite networks and leased transponders within the broader DoD SATCOM enterprise.

  • Develops, plans, operates, and controls military or commercial systems and software.

  • Experience with; DoD and Service Teleports and Gateways, allocation processes for ground, Space, and control networks, and planning tools for commercial assists.

  • Recommends changes to improve site operations and system performance; and

  • Interfaces with developers, manufacturers, vendors, and/or Government personnel to resolve technical and engineering problems and perform other duties as specified.

  • Identifies, plans, and accomplishes training instruction needed to ensure engineering support personnel stay current and obtain certifications needed. 

  • Collaborate with government and military stakeholders to define mission needs and operational problem sets.

  • Apply systems engineering and operations analysis methods to evaluate space mission capabilities and architectures.

  • Participate in agile planning processes and collaborate with other analysts, developers, and subject matter experts.

  • Prepares recommendations and solutions for specific areas in question.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 8+ years of experience, or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.

Citizenship and Clearance:

  • US Citizen.

  • Active Top Secret security clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI is required.

Technical Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated relevant experience with the SATCOM apportionment planning and allocation processes taking into consideration all ground, space, and control networks, and operational control of sub-networks for apportioned SATCOM resources.

  • Knowledge of SATCOM joint integrated management tools.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of space, SATCOM, airborne, and terrestrial networks.

  • Experience in systems engineering related field with a specialization in satellite communications, information technology, or electrical engineering.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills; able to communicate and brief complex concepts at all levels.

  • Able to troubleshoot and resolve problems independently and in high pressure situations.

SCHEDULED WEEKLY HOURS:

  • Normal hours of operation (0730–1630 hours).

  • 40 hours, 5 days a week.

TRAVEL:

  • May require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, expect approximately 10%.

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Basic Compensation:

$129,800 - $162,200

This range is for the CO area only

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s work location, knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience, clearance level, contract affordability and in consideration of internal parity.

 

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance
