Job DescriptionRole Summary
The Berlin-based Legal Department, which provides comprehensive in-house support across a broad geographical remit—including Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa —is seeking a highly motivated Commercial Counsel to join the team. This role is instrumental in supporting our international business operations and ensuring robust legal oversight across diverse jurisdictions.

Candidate ProfileThe ideal candidate holds a university degree in Law. While admission to the Bar (or equivalent qualification) is considered a distinct advantage, it is not a mandatory requirement for this position. We are looking for a professional capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy.
Primary Responsibilities· Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex international commercial agreements for the sale and purchase of goods and services, primarily in English and governed by German or UK Law.
· Risk Mitigation: Proactively identifying and evaluating commercial and contractual risks, and developing strategic solutions to mitigate potential liabilities.
· Strategic Advisory: Providing high-level legal counsel to key business functions, including Sales, Procurement, Project Management, Finance, and Service.
· Governance & Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to internal corporate policies and maintaining oversight of the company’s compliance framework.
· Legal Research: Conducting comprehensive legal analysis and research across various specialized areas of law to support evolving business needs.
Basic Requirements
Academic & Professional Credentials
· Advanced Legal Education: A Master’s degree in Law obtained within an EU jurisdiction.
· Professional Experience: Minimum 2 years-subject-matter expertise acquired through relevant professional experience within a legal or corporate environment (in a law firm or "in house").
Legal Expertise & Technical Skills
· Core Legal Competencies: Advanced proficiency in the Law of Obligations (Contract Law) and a foundational understanding of Corporate Law.
· Specialized Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with Public Procurement Law, Intellectual Property (IP) Law, or EU Data Protection Law (GDPR) is highly advantageous.
· Linguistic Proficiency: Exceptional written and oral communication skills in English and French. Proficiency in additional languages—specifically German or Polish—is considered a significant asset.
· Technical Literacy: Mastery of standard office productivity suites and the ability to rapidly adopt and utilize specialized legal/enterprise software tools.
