Building the Future of Enterprise Software Empowering Talent Leaders to Drive Revenue and Efficiency

Ashby is seeking its first Commercial Counsel to join as a founding member of the legal team at a pivotal stage of growth. As revenue accelerates and deal complexity increases, this role will be central to building scalable, best-in-class in-house support for commercial contracting. The Commercial Counsel will work closely with Sales to review, draft, and negotiate a wide range of customer and vendor agreements, develop internal playbooks, and implement efficient processes that enable rapid deal flow and operational excellence.

This hands-on position is ideal for a senior legal professional with deep experience in commercial contracting—particularly in SaaS or high-growth technology environments—who thrives in lean, fast-paced teams. The role requires strong judgment, business acumen, and the ability to build trusted relationships across sales, procurement, and cross-functional partners. Candidates should be energized by ambiguity, eager to shape foundational processes, and comfortable driving both day-to-day execution and strategic projects.

Key responsibilities include serving as the primary reviewer for sales and procurement contracts, developing scalable workflows, partnering with legal operations, and contributing to broader legal and cross-functional initiatives as the team grows. The ideal candidate brings 6-8 years of legal experience (with at least 4 years in-house at a scaling company), a proven track record in SaaS contracting, and exceptional written communication skills.

Ashby is building the next generation of enterprise software, empowering over 4,500 customers—including leading technology companies—to achieve data-driven talent strategies. Backed by top investors and operating with a global team, Ashby offers the opportunity to make a significant impact in a high-growth, remote-first environment.
