Your Role:

An APD Sr. Supervisor directs, controls, and monitors the work within the Virtual Appraisal and Total Loss Teams. The APD Sr. Supervisor ensures that the investigation, coverage, damage assessment, along with settlements and negotiations are completed in accordance with state(s) regulations and Mobilitas' policies and procedures. The candidate will analyze a variety of management reports and conduct audits to determine program compliance and/or opportunity areas, generating action plans as necessary. Effectively communicate and report observations to the APD Manager and Commercial/Specialty Directors.

Your Work:

  • Responsible for overseeing Desk Appraisers and Total Loss Reps; monitors and adjusts performance criteria, ensures department goals and objectives are met; directs continuous process improvement effort within unit with an ongoing focus of improving customer service and quality repairs.
  • Communicates and enforces administrative policies, operating procedures and safety rules, communicates changes in policy and procedures, ensures compliance of company procedures and DOI regulations, completes slant audits on virtual estimates and total loss settlements, arranges and conducts meetings as required for the efficient operation of the department, participates in team meetings when needed, monitors customer service levels in department and ensures ongoing service quality improvement at every level.
  • Responsible for team human resources functions to include:
  • Recruiting and interviewing prospective employees.
  • Conducting performance appraisals and reviews.
  • Data and trend analyses
  • Recommending salary actions including promotions and terminations.
  • Administering disciplinary procedures in conjunction with management.
  • Recognizes employee’s achievements.
  • Counsels employees on performance issues, promotes growth and development of staff thorough coaching and mentoring, provides feedback and guidance to staff relative to productivity, responsiveness and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinates training needs of employees and ensures employees receive training relevant to their job duties and with a focus on achieving superior customer relations.
  • Assists in monitoring performance of internal and external vendors and works with Process & Performance to negotiate and resolve issues with internal and external vendors.
  • Monitors goals and targets for in support of Auto Physical Damage department strategy.
  • Supports claims initiatives and participates in projects associated with claims initiatives as needed.
  • Consistently exhibits the required behaviors consistent with our Leadership Expectations and Core Values.
  • Up to 25% travel.

Required Experience, Education and Skills 

  • Must hold an Adjuster licensed for all applicable states or obtain license(s) within 90 days of filling position as a condition of employment
  • 3-5 years of experience in progressively responsible professional and/or supervisory position within a claims environment
  • Technical experience in handling claims relevant to adjuster role(s) supervised
  • High School (HS)/GED or 3-year customer service experience in a virtual environment leveraging internet, phone, and chat features industry 
  • Depending on assignment, may be required to obtain and maintain Adjuster’s license (state-specific)
  • Effective critical thinking and decision making
  • Comprehensive understanding of vehicle or property repairs
  • Customer service focus with interpersonal and negotiation skills sufficient to satisfactorily resolve a high percentage of initially escalated issues and situations
  • Thorough knowledge of policy contracts, claim procedures, and DOI regulations in multiple states
  • Thorough knowledge of claims handling and ability to train claims, policy coverage and statutory regulations
  • Strong inter-personal and negotiating skills and the ability to interact with others in a professional and tactful manner.
  • Working knowledge of vehicle and/or property repair process, thorough knowledge of relevant vehicle or property insurance law and regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbally, conduct meetings and deliver formal presentations
  • Skills to coach, mentor, evaluate and provide training, guidance, and constructive feedback to staff
  • Analytical skills to assess operational problems and develop solutions/improvements
  • Organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • General knowledge of HR processes and procedures
  • Proficient math and computer skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, organize time and balance multiple projects
  • Ability to develop customer service skills in others
  • Ability to supervise employees in center-based, home teleworkers, and/or a field/virtual environment.
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to work extended hours and/or weekends
