Organization & Team Overview 

Comcast’s Technology, Product, Experience (TPX) organization works at the intersection of media and technology. Our innovative teams are continually developing and delivering products and next-generation technologies that transform the customer experience. The Comcast Network and CONNECTivity (CONNECT) organization is a highly agile, fast-paced, dedicated group at the forefront of change focused on innovating, building, and operating the best in class, most reliable access network for our customers. 

 

The Access Sustaining Engineering team provides technical support and configuration management for both virtual and integrated broadband network platforms, including customer equipment and remote access devices. We support the development and deployment of next-generation technologies such as Mid Split and Full Duplex (FDX), manage internet service tiers, and support lab testing, field issue resolution, and certification of customer-owned devices. We also provide engineering and operational support for our fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solution, ensuring smooth integration and close collaboration with technology vendors.

As an Access Technology Engineering Intern on the Access Sustaining Engineering team, you will gain hands-on experience with advanced broadband technologies, including HFC, RF, and optical systems. You’ll contribute to the development of tools and automation that improve lab testing, streamline device configuration, and enhance issue detection and resolution. Your work will directly support the rollout of high-speed internet services, help expand and optimizelow-latency performance, and ensure millions of devices are ready to deliver a world-class customer experience, thereby contributing significantly to our company's mission.  

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?  

In this role, you will play a crucial part in bridging the gap between development and operations. Your support in the integration, testing, and validation of advanced access network technologies will be instrumental in improving network performance and enhancing the subscriber experience. You will contribute to system-level planning and execution across multiple disciplines and business units. This position offers hands-on involvement in cutting-edge broadband solutions and provides opportunities to drive continuous improvement in quality and reliability, making you an integral part of our success.  

Some example day-to-day projects include: 

  • Supporting the launch of new fiber-based broadband services by validating device configurations and network readiness.  

  • Helping build and maintain the systems that generate and manage configuration files for millions of devices across Comcast’s network.  

  • Developing tools and automation to improve lab testing efficiency and issue triage workflows.  

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to validate new technologies and troubleshoot real-world network challenges.

Job Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Support lab validation efforts through test automation, data analysis, and reporting tools. 

  • Contribute to COAM device certification workflows and test harness development. 

  • Help develop dashboards and scripts for field issue triage (e.g., OFDMA, DS/US performance) 

  • Assist in RSwitch (FTTH) deployment tooling and vendor integration support 

  • Contributes to the development of testing and evaluates solutions presented to the Company by various internal and external partners and vendors. Contributes to case studies, testing and reporting. 

  • Assists with conducting studies to support product or application development. 

  • Support the Access Technology core team values of Courage, Curiosity, Trust, and Respect. Collaborate across teams with an open-minded perspective on new ideas with creative contribution on new technology, architectures and operational approaches. 

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Preferred Skills 

  • Familiarity with broadband network architectures, including RF, optical, and wireless systems. 

  • Proficiency in scripting or software development (e.g., Python, Bash, or similar) to automate testing, interact with lab equipment, and streamline configuration workflows. 

  • Exposure to Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC), DOCSIS, or OFDM-based systems is a plus. 

  • Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and REST APIs 

  • Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering 

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements 

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university 

  • Rising Junior or Rising Senior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2026- Spring 2028) 

  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2026 semester before graduating)  

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program starting June 1, 2026, through August 14, 2026 

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs 

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Compensation

Base Pay: $32.00
