JOB SUMMARY
This position is an integral member of our Cloud Operations and Engineering Team. The individual in this role is responsible for supporting the design, development, and maintenance of our technical cloud solutions, ensuring their efficient and reliable operation. This individual will be a leading contributor to our technical ecosystem that includes cloud infrastructure, networking, application support, integrations, and IaC implementation. They will work closely with other technical professionals, analysts, and engineers to build and optimize solutions, ensuring quality, integrity, and performance. The ideal candidate is adaptable, solution-oriented, and capable of collaborating across multiple teams providing excellent technical leadership. The incumbent may be involved in every aspect of the technical process from idea generation, analysis, design, build, and support using various technologies and design patterns.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, and implementation of cloud-based solutions, ensuring alignment with architectural/security standards and business requirements.
- Solution Delivery: Oversee projects from conception to deployment, ensuring high-quality, on-time, and within-budget delivery of cloud-based solutions.
- Automation & CI/CD: Drive infrastructure as code (IaC) adoption and implementation using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible. Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to effectively implement our IaC strategy and maintain compliance with our DevOps Team and practices.
- Collaboration & Communication: Partner with cross-functional teams (IT, product, analytics, and business) to gather requirements, provide technical guidance, and ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions. Work with software engineers, DevOps, SRE, and product teams to align cloud solutions with business needs.
- Technical Governance: Enforce best practices for cloud security, compliance, and performance optimization.
- Mentorship & Development: Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence.
- Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of cloud technologies, evaluating new tools and approaches to enhance our cloud capabilities.
- Problem Solving: Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support for complex cloud-related issues.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Proactively monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and provide regular status updates to leadership.
EXPERIENCE
Required
7 years of experience in one or many of the following tasks: analyzing, designing, coding, testing and implementing technical solutions, as well as providing general production support, meeting defined scope, target dates and budgets with minimal or no defects
7 years of experience in technical problem solving, solution implementation, team/project collaboration
7 years of experience in basic computer science concepts and principles, common operating systems, development languages/scripting
Preferred
- 9+ years of experience with enterprise technology platforms, application development tools, and the software development lifecycle.
- 9+ years of experience defining system architectures and making technical decisions based on feasibility, cost, and security in a cloud environment.
- 9+ years of experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their services.
- 9+ years of experience with technical governance, quality assurance, and security best practices.
- 9+ years of experience translating business requirements into technical designs and implementing fault-tolerant, scalable, and maintainable cloud solutions.
- Experience in the healthcare industry.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field

Pay Range Minimum:
$92,300.00Pay Range Maximum:
$172,500.00Base pay is determined by a variety of factors including a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal peer equity, market, and business considerations. The displayed salary range does not reflect any geographic differential Highmark may apply for certain locations based upon comparative markets.
