We are seeking a Cloud Engineer to help us optimize our infrastructure, develop and maintain applications and systems, and manage internal IT support.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

In this role, the right candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and highly available cloud infrastructure solutions across platforms like AWS and Google Cloud. You will lead cloud strategy, automation, and DevOps initiatives while ensuring optimal system performance and cost-efficiency.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Infrastructure Assessment and Optimization: Assess current infrastructure and identify opportunities for optimization and improvement
  • Cloud Commercialization Strategy Development: Develop strategies for the commercialization of cloud computing applications
  • Standardization and Governance of Cloud Applications: Ensure standardization and governance of cloud-based applications within the organization
  • Development and Maintenance of Cloud-Based Systems: Develop, oversee, and maintain cloud-based applications and systems
  • Cloud Service Provider Management: Manage relationships with cloud service providers, such as GCP
  • Implement the strategies for managing cloud infrastructure, storage, and software
  • Implement the CI/CD strategies for the company along with cloud deployment, containerization strategy, reliability and performance, security and availability, monitoring and alerting, and disaster recovery
  • Work closely with the engineering, data engineering, and data science teams to maintain cloud development infrastructure
  • Execute and troubleshoot SaaS application deployment procedures.
  • Develop and improve automation and procedures in the cloud environment.
  • Creating and maintaining technical documents for cloud infrastructure and related processes
  • Lead internal IT and InfoSec activities

In addition, this role will be responsible for other ad-hoc duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years professional experience in a Cloud Operations, SRE, or Engineering Operations role
  • Proficiency working with cloud service providers, particularly GCP
  • Proven hands-on experience in implementing and managing Cloud/Engineering Operations, monitoring, and observability
  • Experience in hands on programming (scripting with bash, python, etc.) and Terraform
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and CloudOps principles and being capable of building highly available reproducible infrastructure
  • Strong communication skills with a high emphasis on the ability to explain technology in business terms and to express opinions clearly
  • Solutions oriented – ability to creatively solve problems on the fly
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotation
  • Ability to quickly ramp up on new technologies and best practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently across multiple projects
  • Must be able to work well with a variety of colleagues possessing a range of technical abilities and knowledge
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Experience with other cloud service providers, such as AWS
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Pulumi
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Strong project management skills
  • Government or defense industry experience

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Total compensation includes salary and stock option grants. The salary range for this position is between$125,000 to $175,000, and individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. PHC offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, wellbeing offerings, 401K, unlimited PTO, paid holidays, and a work from home stipend. PHC covers 100% of medical premiums for employees and 50% of medical premiums for dependents.
