Compute Ops Management (CoM) enables HPE Enterprise customers to connect to the cloud-based management services for Gen11 and later servers. CoM is built on a unique cloud-native architecture that abstracts and orchestrates infrastructure and compute workflows, transforming complex compute operations into a simplified experience across edge-to-cloud to accelerate agility. One of the foundational pillars of CCSE that enables CoM to deliver customer value on daily basis through a constantly evolving cloud deployment strategy is the Developer Catalyst (DevCat) group. The charter of the DevCat team is to constantly improve the CI/CD strategy that results in our development teams’ ultimate confidence with frequent deployment of their code to production - with as few dependencies and as much observability, as possible. To this end, the DevCat team is seeking a Senior Cloud Automation Engineer who thrives in a challenging and fast-paced environment and is always striving for better process and tools. The focus of this position will be to work within a group of highly talented full stack engineers in supporting and evolving a developer-centric, highly available, performant, secure, and continually improving CI/CD model. This also includes upkeep and creation of simulation services as well as maintenance of a test framework, which is supported by transparent, real time, and accurate reporting tools and complemented by diligent processes enabling both cloud and on-prem release models.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Support day to day activities to enhance and improve CI/CD to ensure the related development teams deliver high quality, performant, accurate and reliable tools and services
- Participate in SCRUM team deliverables and SCRUM ceremonies
- Contribute to code reviews and ensure that code adheres to best practices
- Be an advocate for customers and product quality within the organization
- Ability to act on resolution of blocking issues, initially, but have the discipline to think through root cause and permanent solutions, afterward
- Seek and/or receive feedback from development teams with respect to tooling and infrastructure required to improve production deployment efficiency and/or quality and translate those into appropriately scoped improvements
- Participate in technical deep-dives, architecture discussions, and cross-training efforts to ensure operational knowledge is spread across the teams and time zones, appropriately
- Participate in support rotations aimed at triaging and resolving issues across a number of development, test, staging and production environments
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to less senior members of the team or DevCat interns
Job Requirements:
- Significant work experience in Cloud technologies supporting the full development life-cycle of cloud native products
- Prior experience in product development and deployments with a focus on quality; end-to-end ownership and accountability
- Experience in architecture/design/implementation of testing frameworks and onboarding/support of a testing framework across several teams using it for development of tests
- Experience with CI/CD and Dev-Ops tools like Jenkins, Spinnaker, Argo, Git, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Docker, Kubernetes, Jira
- Experience with development in Python or Golang
- Ability to utilize and/or learn to create content (data collection & dashboarding) for tools like Grafana, Prometheus, and/or Humio for monitoring and observability
- Knowledge and/or experience working with container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes and deployment of workloads into those environments
- Knowledge and experience working with AWS services (EKS, EC2, Cloudfront, RDS, etc) and/or with other cloud providers (Azure, GCP)
- Understating of modern aaS APIs and testing principles
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or closely related quantitative discipline. Master’s desirable.
- Typically, 2-4 years’ experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Golang, or JavaScript.
- Experience with design methodologies, cloud-native applications, developer tools, managed services, and next-generation databases.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to quickly learn new skills and technologies and work well with other team members.
- Understanding DevOps practices like continuous integration/deployment and orchestration with Kubernetes.
