Job Description:

The Chief Product Officer (CPO) at Pluralsight is a visionary leader with a deep understanding of the needs of Learning & Development and Technology leaders who use upskilling to achieve key organizational goals. This individual excels at translating customer insights into innovative product strategies that drive growth and deliver exceptional value. 

Reporting directly to the CEO and a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CPO is responsible for the strategy, design, and execution of Pluralsight's product portfolio. This includes leading the Product and Design organizations, defining the roadmap, and managing the full product lifecycle.

Thousands of companies, government organizations, and individuals worldwide rely on Pluralsight for critical technology skill development in areas like AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, software development, and machine learning. Duties/Responsibilities

  • Product Strategy and Vision: Defines and communicates a bold and clear product vision aligned with company goals. Builds and executes a long-term product roadmap based on market opportunities, competitive differentiation and customer feedback.

  • Executes with Excellence: Ensures effective execution across the entire product lifecycle from discovery to delivery.  Drives operational rigor, accountabilities and high-quality output within the Product & Design organization.  

  • Customer-Centric Innovation: Maintains pulse on customer needs including pain points and opportunities through direct engagement, analytics and feedback loops.  

  • End-to-End Product Lifecycle Management: Leads the full lifecycle of new and existing products from ideation to validation, design, development, launch and ongoing optimization. Ensures strong product market fit and drives continuous improvement based on user feedback performance metrics, and business impact with a focus on delivering measurable ROI. 

  • Partnership in Execution: Fosters a highly collaborative environment, working closely with the CTO, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), Chief Content Officer (CCO) and other executive leaders to align product strategy with overall business objectives and ensure integrated execution across all functions.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Establishes and monitors key product performance indicators (KPIs), leveraging data analytics and user insights to inform product iterations, prioritize features, and measure the success of product initiatives, particularly related to skill development and learning outcomes.

  • Technology & Industry Trends: Stays abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive landscapes to identify new product opportunities and ensure Pluralsight's offerings remain cutting-edge and relevant in areas like AI, cloud, and machine learning.

  • Leading the Product & Design Organization : Creates a compelling vision for the entire Product & Design organization, fostering a culture of innovation, customer-centricity, and data-driven decision-making. Mentors, coaches, and develops a high-performing team of product managers focused on delivering measurable outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in product management, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership role (SVP/VP of Product, Head of Product, or similar) overseeing a significant product portfolio.

  • Demonstrated experience in defining and executing successful product strategies for B2B SaaS platforms, preferably within the EdTech, professional development, or enterprise software sectors focused on content delivery.

  • Proven ability to build, lead, and mentor high-performing product teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex market dynamics and customer needs into actionable product roadmaps that enhance a comprehensive learning platform.

  • Strong understanding of agile development methodologies and experience working closely with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex product strategies to diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership, employees, customers, and Board of Directors.

  • Data-driven mindset with a strong analytical aptitude and experience using product analytics tools and frameworks to inform decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills

  • Experience leading through business transformation or turnarounds; delivering innovative products that drive growth 

  • transforming a product organization during periods of rapid growth or significant transformation.

  • Demonstrated success in driving product innovation and launching disruptive products in competitive markets.

  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions from a product integration perspective.

  • Deep understanding of the technology skills landscape, including programming languages, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, data science, and AI/ML.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field preferred.
