Job Title: Carbon Services Senior Project Manager
Compensation Range: $105,000 - $145,000 based on market location and experience.
Location: This role’s preferred location is in San Francisco, San Diego, Denver or can be located anywhere in the U.S., or Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton or can be located anywhere in Canada.

Job Description
Stok is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our Carbon Services Team. As a consultant at Stok, you will work with some of the world’s most innovative companies, including those influencing iconic corporate climate programs and real estate projects for positive impact. Ideal candidates have a background in building science, sustainable design, embodied carbon tools and policy, and are detail-oriented and able to communicate complex ideas, strategies, and data to technical and non-technical audiences.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with our Carbon, ESG, Sustainability Consulting, and Energy and Performance Engineering service groups to deliver comprehensive, integrated solutions to a variety of client types including public and private corporations and financial institutions, cities, universities, and architecture, engineering and construction partners.
- Serve as internal subject matter expert on corporate climate strategy development and implementation, with a focus on GHG accounting and decarbonizing real estate portfolios.
- Independently manage multiple client engagements at the same time, including climate program creation, target-setting, reduction planning and budget development, Scope 1-3 GHG inventories, carbon compensation strategies, and annual reporting.
- Engage effectively with clients and client stakeholders such as executives and Board Members.
- Attend and lead client meetings related to project delivery.
- Guide and support Stok GHG analyst(s) to perform detailed analyses related to Scope 1-3 GHG footprints, target-setting and emissions forecasting, and decarbonization planning. Perform these analyses independently, as necessary.
- Develop and review technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with ESG Services Group to prepare clients to disclose to industry relevant voluntary reporting frameworks such as GRESB and CDP, and to regulatory frameworks such as California SB 253 and SB 261.
- Support the growth of our Carbon Services Group by developing and delivering existing and new consulting services, working with colleagues and clients throughout the process.
- Mentor colleagues to ensure successful project delivery and support junior-level team member growth.
- Contribute to thought leadership content that positions Stok as a leading carbon services provider.
- Remain informed on industry trends related to GHG accounting standards, carbon aspects of leading. regulatory and reporting frameworks, target-setting criteria, renewables and carbon markets.
Qualifications
- A passion for sustainability and climate action.
- Experience working directly with real estate developers and/or asset managers.
- Demonstrated track record of advising commercial companies and/or asset managers on net zero implementation.
- 4-6 years’ experience in a relevant work position, on topics such as: climate program development, Scope 1-3 GHG inventories, climate risk assessments, climate target-setting, reduction planning and budgeting, implementation of decarbonization measures across individual assets and real estate portfolios, renewable energy, and internal carbon pricing.
- Comfort relying on own experience and skills, and utilizing the resources available, to problem-solve and make strategic recommendations to clients in senior level positions.
- Command of market trends related to climate action in the real estate sector.
- Demonstrated track record of leading complex strategy projects, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and managing small teams.
- Fluency with best-in-class accounting methodologies outlined in the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and the Buildings and Financial Institution sector target-setting criteria outlined by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and how to apply them.
- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage budgets, timelines, teams and clients.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain complex topics.
- Excellent analytical skills, including high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- An innate attention to detail.

- Proactive, with the ability and confidence to take initiative.

Additional experience we’d be excited for you to bring:
- Experience supporting clients in assessing and implementing diversified renewable energy strategies across multiple assets, including onsite, PPAs and vPPAs, and community solar.
- First-hand experience going through the SBTi approval process.
- Experience reporting in alignment with best in-class frameworks including CDP, TCFD/IFRS S1 and S2, and GRESB, and regulatory requirements in the US, Canada, EU, and UK.
- Experience developing physical and/or transition climate risk strategy in-house or through a provider.
- Experience using open-source programs for data analysis.
