Job Title: CAD Designer (Short‑Term Contract)
Location: Remote
Duration: Short‑Term Contract
Overview:
NEC is seeking a skilled CAD Designer to support a short‑term engineering project focused on converting a client’s stationary system into a fully modular configuration suitable for rail and truck transport. The ideal candidate will have strong 3D modeling abilities, experience with mechanical packaging or modular systems, and the ability to translate existing designs into transport‑ready modular units.
Key Responsibilities:
• Review and interpret the client’s current stationary system drawings, layouts, and design files.
• Develop modularized CAD models optimized for rail and truck shipment, ensuring structural integrity and transportability.
• Create detailed fabrication, assembly, and packaging drawings for modular units.
• Collaborate with engineers to incorporate mechanical, structural, and logistical requirements into the design.
• Ensure compliance with dimensional constraints, weight limits, lift/rigging points, and transportation regulations.
• Produce revision updates and maintain organized CAD documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Participate in design reviews and rapidly implement feedback.
Required Qualifications:
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or equivalent).
• Experience with modular design, skid systems, or equipment packaging (preferred).
• Strong understanding of mechanical layouts, tolerances, and fabrication methods.
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under short project timelines.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with remote engineering teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Background in designing systems for transport (rail/truck) or industrial equipment integration.
• Knowledge of structural framing, lifting/rigging considerations, or transport‑rated enclosures.
About the Role:
This is a fast‑paced short‑term project ideal for a designer who can step in quickly, work independently, and deliver high‑quality modular CAD packages that transform a stationary system into a transport‑ready solution.
