About the Role 

Are you ready to build low‑code solutions that directly support the U.S. Army’s mission at the tactical edge? As an Appian Engineer, you’ll help deliver secure, automated workflows and integrations that enable timely, trusted situational awareness in distributed and DDIL environments. You’ll develop Appian applications, APIs, and data products that connect low‑code platforms, AI services, and external mission systems - ensuring critical information flows reliably from the field to shared operational views. Working within Agile, cross‑functional teams, you’ll turn complex operational needs into resilient Appian solutions that support mission execution where and when it matters most.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create Appian Web APIs for integration with external systems
  • Build and integrate APIs to enhance the functionality and interoperability of Appian applications with other systems, including Web APIs, Connected Systems, and Integration Objects
  • Utilize Appian Data Fabric to create multiple data products
  • Create automated workflows using Appian BPM platform
  • Leverage Appian RPA and AI capabilities to automate processes, improve application intelligence, and generate synthetic data
  • Execute unit tests and integration tests against changes.
  • Check code into a DevOps pipeline to promote Appian objects/packages to a higher tier.
  • Create Plugins and API end points
  • Implement security best practices within the Appian platform, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards – must include knowledge of user role configuration and security rules
  • Work closely with Business Analysts to design conceptual workflows and related actions to support the customer’s vision within the solution.
  • Create custom reports and dashboards tailored to users
  • Provide implementation complexity insight into designs to aid the customer in deciding which approach to pursue from a cost/benefit perspective.
  • Participate in internal and customer facing demos
  • Participate in all Agile-based ceremonies, including assisting the team with story estimation.
  • Assist other Appian developers with their tasks from a peer programming perspective, including reviewing code and implementation approach.
  • Understand and implement complex security rules across multiple data sources.
  • Assist with the testing effort following all Appian upgrades.
  • Support the remediation of issues that arise in higher environments including Production.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience as an Appian Developer.
  • Experience with Appian Process automation platform
  • Experience with API development and API performance tuning
  • Experienced in Developing Process Models, SAIL Interfaces, Records and Reports.
  • Experience participating in requirement gathering sessions.
  • The ability to turn written and verbal requirements into process flows and interfaces
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and responsiveness.
  • Level 1 (or higher) Appian A-score Certification or Appian Certified Associate Developer certificate
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain one

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience working with Army or other Federal agencies.
  • Military-experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
