About the Role:

This position serves as a first line Business Risk Group (BRG) advisor embedded within the business. Responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating Commercial Finance risks that could impact Pathward’s strategic, operational, financial, or reputational standing. The individual collaborates extensively with the business underwriting, portfolio, and credit administration teams and second line stakeholders, to align business activities with regulatory expectations and sound risk management practices.

What You Will Do:

  • Serves as the primary Commercial Finance regulatory advisor to business units, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Monitors the bank’s overall credit risk profile in relation to Board approved Risk Appetite.
  • Develops strong credit culture within the entire bank.
  • Provides a credible challenge to lending decisions across the lifecycle of lending activities including problem loan administration activities, underwriting strategies, appropriateness of risk ratings and nonaccrual status, and collateral valuations.
  • Develops and provides training to first line of defense staff on credit related topics.
  • Administers and participates in credit-related committees and working groups.
  • Advises leadership on risk-related decisions.
  • Monitors regulatory changes and ensuring compliance.
  • Prepares risk reports and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Leverages data analytics and technology for predictive risk modeling.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field or equivalent education and work
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, lending, loan review, or risk management roles, preferably within banking or financial services.
  • 12+ years of experience in commercial credit experience, including alternative energy, working capital, asset based lending, equipment finance, leasing and government guaranteed lending, with a strong understanding of relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit program design, regulatory requirements, and risk management
  • Expertise in interpreting and applying regulations, including regulatory risk rating criteria and risk management best practices.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills to assess the impact of regulatory changes on credit products.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to engage with diverse
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to anticipate regulatory and market changes and design credit programs accordingly.
  • Strong critical thinker with problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex challenges with a risk-aware approach.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced

Salary range: $104,000– $174,000

 
The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this role. Individual pay within the range will be determined by multiple factors which can include but are not limited to a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary for your location during the hiring process. Ranges may be modified in the future.
This role is also eligible for an annual performance-based incentive opportunity.  Pathward offers a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees, including health insurance, 401(k) retirement benefits, life insurance, disability benefits, paid time off, and more.
